in bull fighting, the technique is to stab the bull in the neck, with, a sort of spear i don't know what it's called. they do that to wear it down. the bull gets tired from blood loss, then finally put down with a sabre.

That would be the bull's blood. The way a bullfight works is: the bull comes out fresh and healthy, the picador(s) come out on horseback, (the horses are padded to protect it from the bull) with spears and stick the bull between the shoulderblades to get blood flowing from an artery there, then the banderilleros come out on foot and stick swords or sharpened sticks into the same place and continue to tire the bull out, then, finally the matador comes out to show off and then finally try to stab the bull through the heart just before it bleeds to death.

I saw a bullfight in Spain and I couldn't help but gain a whole new respect for bullriders and rodeo clowns for what they do with a healthy bull instead of this fancy-pants bullshit they do in Latin countries. The Spaniards around me weren't happy to hear me say "Yeah, let's see you get on the back of a fresh bull you fag!"

I had assumed that too, but after seeing it from start to finish, I really didn't see it as all that dangerous. It's like watching a rigged fight. To the death no less.

To make the bull half-dead before the matador comes out. Otherwise the bull would just come running out and gore the matador in the ass and he would fly up and splat on the moon. With all these shenanigans it's really not as dangerous as it seems. I sat through 5 of these things on that day in Toledo and none of the matadors got so much as a scratch. All five of the bulls were dragged out of there dead, and one of the horses was dragged out, probably to the glue factory.
