Word is that the show is scheduled for an overnight tape delay..

I sure hope this is true and just the beginning for things to come. With their good news of impressive ratings I hope this does happen for them.

[color=purple]I don't know, the guy who posted that just seems like some kinda heckler to me.

I really shouldn't even say anything, but the fact of the matter is that The 700 Club is poised to enter the radio game with a six station launch and R&F have been tapped to do middays.

Iris will still be calling in, but as a born again christian. It's the news, you can use, for the Jews.... for jesus.

if you can afford it you should definitley get XM besides for O and A they have a great music selection and a bunch of other stuff you might like. its expensive though you will probably need to spend $200 for the radio and a years service but its the wave of the future. It's like cable tv was 15 years ago but now 95% have cable tv. I really hope ron and fez end up at xm in a year or two.

It's like cable tv was 15 years ago but now 95% have cable tv.

People do live without paying for television. Over twenty years ago 40% of people susbcribed to cable; in 1995, 60% of the public had cable - ten years later cable is now only in 66% of all U.S. households.

To be fair, satellite reaches about 19 percent of all homes (many of whom also have cable), so (combined) it's maybe 75-80%.

Just so there's no confusion -- as I posted in another thread, here's what he said:

Ron: My prediction - Billy will be with us before we know it, or my prediction is we'll be with Billy before we know it.
Fez: Really?
Ron. Yeah.
Fez: Radio psychic.
Ron. Well.I'm not even going to put it as a radio psychic, maybe closer to a.
Drop: "Spy Report"
Ron: And that's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying.

i have one question when ron and fez get syndicated back to NY will they still broadcast from DC or do you think they may actually come back to Ny and broadcast from here?

If R&F stay with Infinity and somehow strike a deal to be syndicated into a NY station, I would guess that they would stay in the DC area - the way sydnication works for most of the radio people, they make all of their money from their home market. As Baltimore proved, your syndicatd markets can drop you in a flash.

Same thing if they stay at Infinity and they get an offer to simulcast the show through either XM or Sirius; they would stay put.

IF they make the leap into Satellite, then I suppose it would depend on who they go with. XM has studios in DC and NY, and I think Sirius is based out of NY - however, I would be surprised that ALL of their original content shows come out of the same place.

Radio is one of the most unstable job environments to get into, and it must be tough for someone with a family if, every couple of years, you move from market to market. It's a rare thing that Don and Mike & Stern have, where they can be at the same place forever, and actually have job security. And R&F know this, as long as they have been at it.

They obviously loved living and working in New York, but (even as backwards as Fairfax can be at times - but their fault for not hunting out the cooler areas around DC to live!) I really don't get the impression they hate it here.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but on Sirius' talk station, the one that plays the Radio Chick, they've been temporarily replaying the Chick in evenings, as a place-holder for something good that they say will be coming soon.

Could it be...?

Could it be...?

I think R&F signed a contract last summer, and while we don't know how long it is for, more than likely it won't be up (at the earliest) before June or July of this year. Would Sirius keep the seats warm that long?

Also - if (for some reason) R&F move from WJFK, I really doubt it's for another evening or late night slot, anywhere. The money is in the mornings or afternoon drive, and even mid-days. People need to take Ron and Fez out of their pre-conceived notions of what they've been doing for the last 5 years and remember they had a successful AM run in FLA before joining up with DC & NY. They are an amazing late night show - a real excuse to not watch television many nights - but anyone who has been in radio knows the pecking order of timeslots.

To play devil's advocate, though, if you syndicate to market #1, all bet's are off. Even D&M who were (and are) deeply entrenched in the DC/MD/VA market were splitting their time with NYC when they syndicated up there. Also, add in the fact that R&F already have a relationship with the NY market, it's not beyond the pale of possibility that if such syndication occured, they would move back to NY or spend a certain amount of time split between the markets.

To play devil's advocate, though,

I love that pinball machine.

if you syndicate to market #1, all bet's are off.

That scenerio I mentioned earlier is if R&F go the Westwood One route which pays next to nothing. It's often just a vanity thing.

If Ron and Fez broker individual deals with individual stations (like D&M did with Philly & NY & Baltimore and Stern has done with all of his stations), then a New York station has made an investment into them, just like WJFK, and are less likely to up and pull the plug (like Live 105).

There are simularities and differences between the D&M situation and a situation w/ R&F going back on a commercial station in New York. R&F, I'm sure, could pick out plenty to learn from what Don and Mike did and went through, and then couple it with what happened to themselves at Blink, and then take a gander at WJFK.

Who knows - Infinity may be trying to murder this talk format when Stern leaves. In this FCC fines era, and with Howie leaving, who could really blame them? Even so, I don't see WJFK going anywhere after Howard goes, so then R&F (if on in both cities on terestrial radio) could be presented with an option of (a) staying in Fairfax on a station that's not going to go anywhere where they would (hopefully) have a pretty strong impact on the over-all line-up or (b) return to originate their show from NY and hope that the ratings really kick in fast for (not only their show) but an entire station. WJFK has weathered bad books and good books, but by and large their top shows (and the station as a whole) are as secure as anything in radio. In NY - sheeeeeet. It's much more brutal. They have to have the ratings to survive month to month.

In the almost 15 or so years of WJFK they have had...

Howard Stern - Ushered in "WBMW" into "WJFK" - this was his second or third market after New York (Philly was the 1st; I don't know if LA came next, or if it was Washington).
Don and Mike - Now and forever.
G. Gordon Liddy - moved to another station to make room for O&A
The Greaseman - in R&F current timeslt; syndicated and ignored and dropped by the entire syndication package, except Atlanta, until he made that last racist joke
The Sports Junkies - Only left to get a better gig, but returned 2 years later to do middays
Farrell - Late, late night syndicated show that was eventually dropped.
O&A - Even though ratings weren't hot, WJFK could have weathered it out with them
Ron and Fez - Almost five years on in DC; people who brought them on, and down from NY no longer work for the station, though
Bill O'Reilly - They will never be able to get rid of him.
The Hideout - The first local, 5 nights a week show just out and out shit-canned.

Who knows - who knows - who knows - who knows - my personal speculation is that Ron and Fez will ONLY move out of the DC area IF they get on either XM or Sirius and the location of the studio dictates the move, or they up and go to another market in an earlier timeslot. I really believe that IF they are on 106.7 and syndicated anywhere else, they'll just stay put and see how things shake out.

I'll be curious if they move back to New York if they do indeed go to XM. They could stay in DC and do the shows from there, though I'd think the boys would be happier in New York.

It would be interesting to see what kind of studio they get if that happens, as O&A are likely to want to keep theirs as their own, and I don't remember them saying there were studios of equal size at that XM site.

Yeah but I imagine they would let them use the same studio, it would guarantee in a weird way that the controls to the studio would be kept in good hands longer.

On the other han,d if O&A are right about how they are going to renovate the office and get rid of cubicles perhaps they will build another studio.

I think O&A's studio is O&A's studio, and they deserve it, but R&F deserve no less.

Hopefully there's another equal sized studio there, or room for one.

as it is now their studio gets used by others, it's pretty much where there's almost a daily battle about the volumes and other technical problems with the show.

As a proud member of the o&a army and one of r&f's former ny budddayyss... I want to shed some possible light on this situation.
As opie put it today, theyre trying to get the band back together...what this i believe is a reunion of these two dynamic duos on xm...for 1, o+a are off premium, 2. they are looking for shows to be put on their network, 3. r+f's names have come up numerous times over the last week or so....4. Ron saying your moms box....COME ON NOW....i think its in the cards folks....i for one am very excited about the possibilities, its all speculation but when o+a mention shit like that you know somethings up...later peeps

A few weeks ago Opie mentioned that everyone else in that office (the Broadway channel and Frank's Place are two stations they've mentioned) are moving out soon to a new studio. If Ron and Fez come back to NYC, they'd have plenty of room. Even if it isn't Ron and Fez, I'm sure whoever they get to fill out their channel will broadcast from there as I can't see XM paying for a whole office just so O&A can be alone.

I wonder what will happen to Eddie Trunk (Bon Jovi fan since day 1!). They mentioned he also broadcasted from there. I wonder if they'll be dicks and make him move too.

I think O&A's studio is O&A's studio, and they deserve it

as it is now their studio gets used by others, it's pretty much where there's almost a daily battle about the volumes and other technical problems with the show.

I'm not sure others actually broadcast out of that studio, but you're right, they have had other people in there. (doing commercials?)

Either way, I could've swore that O&A said they had their "own" studio.

Whatever O&A have, it's only fair that R&F have the same.

O&A don't like the people from the broadway channel coming into their studio and messing with the phones and the sound on the headphones. also onetime one of the guys got pissed at the shitdick sign in the studio.
i think they'll welcome ron and fez with open arms.

Ron and Fez in NY would be great. The show relys heavily on it's fans and the ones in NY always did a great job.

sure it would be great to have them back in NY, I miss them as much as the next guy. If theyget back on the Ny air waves, maybe i'll listen again. I also got XM (finally), it wasn't expensive at all. And if they go to XM, then i'm ready for them.

Don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the intro Friday night ran well over 2 minutes, with Ron singing over "Cruisin' For A Love" by J. Geils, with the prominent lyric "Back on Broadway". Immediately followed by Ron and Fez discussing how they weren't two radio individuals, but a team. Sounded like a a pretty clear (in R&F terms) indication of a move back to NYC.

A D.C. fan from the NY days.
