New Sasser Virus Spreading Rapidly...

There's several news articles reporting of a new virus called "Sasser" that has been spreading on the internet since Saturday. It sounds like this sucker mostly just keeps rebooting your system.


Computer experts said the worm will repeatedly shut down the computer and reboot it, but they said the worm is not thought to cause lasting damage.

But it does exploit a security flaw in some versions of Windows. A Microsoft patch is available to stop the worm.

Unlike a computer virus, the Sasser worm does not infect computers through e-mail messages or attachments. It can, however, directly target any PC linked to the Internet.

I suggest folks who haven't gotten this latest virus update do it right away. I did it yesterday, though today here at work. My company is completely down...worldwide. I was able to sign up a temporary account with AOL and got the latest Norton Updates, and I also checked with Windows Update. But other than that this whole place is down.
