I've been feeling a lot of anxiety at work for the past month or so. We have a "critical" audit coming up next week. I know that no matter what happens, this audit is not going to change my life. My job is not on the line. But I've been all stressed out and people notice - and I hate looking like a stressed out fool.

i sympathize. i've been the same way recently. it seems like everything's suddenly coming to a head right now. and i guess they are. unlike you, these events do have great bearing on my future. they could, in some sense, change my life. so, you can at least take some comfort in that.

Have you thought of meditating? It can be very relaxing. Also, try flying a kite. It sounds silly, but again it can relieve stress. If these don't work, go on a killing spree in South America; you can get away with it there!

Today we found out what cases are going to be audited, and the files from my team are generally in good order. As for the rest of the department, who knows, but my team is generally competent. So the fear of the unknown is starting to subside.
I don't mind working hard. I usually work from 9 -6:30 ; for the past month I've been working until 7:30 most nights. Meanwhile, my morbidly obese boss can't drag his fat ass into work more than 2 or 3 times a week, and it's not because he's away on business. He "works" from home primarily because he lives in South Jersey, and his fat ass can't make the commute 5 days a week.
When (not if, but when) he has a heart attack and drops dead, I'm going to have a good laugh.
it seems like everything's suddenly coming to a head right now. and i guess they are. unlike you, these events do have great bearing on my future. they could, in some sense, change my life.
What's going on with you Ari?

in all honesty, i good walk outside will help your anxiety. it's nice being able to take my dog for a walk after a terrible day.
sure, it seems like the pressure's off, but it doesn't mean it won't come back. shit, i've heard germany gives employees 2 weeks mental health leave on top of sick, personal, and vacation days.
someday we might be so lucky. hope everything works out for the better budday.

Sounds like they're going to take one look at you and think to themselves, "He's guilty of something....I don't know what it is, but look at how nervous he is, those eyes darting back and forth, as if looking for a path to escape. We better keep an eye on this shifty little bastard until he comes clean or we get the goods on him..."
