OK, Frank's either deaf, or just an idiot.

But other than that, the Stones should have been on for either "Satisfaction" or even "Start Me Up."

Theres some amazing weezer songs with awesome riffs. Hash Pipe has a kick ass riff and so does Fall Together.

And I am personally tired of people saying how great Nirvana was. They are just ok. Cobain wasn't anything special. He wasn't the genious that every friggin' teenager makes him out to be.

Nirvana was good. They owe everything they ever played to The Melvins though. I think Kurt even said that in an interview once after The Melvins released Houdini (which had Kurt guesting on it) back in 1993.

These lists always amaze me because whos opinions are these? I want a poll taken of say, random concertgoers nationwide of pretty much all genres of rock and THEN come up with your list compiled of those results. Or something like that. I can think of so many more riffs by bands that would make that Top 20. Come to think of it, back in the day, I remember riff being mostly used in the metal classes. I was a lot dumber then.

Still, Sweet Child O' Mine, even though it is a great song, I think of the opening riff they describe as more of a lead than a riff.

I also would have named this thread, "For proper operation of this thread, read these instructions first"

The Stones definitely belong on the list, they practically invented the genre of riff-rock. "The Last Time" has a hypnotic riff that serves as the backbone of the entire song. Not to mention the obvious ones: "Satisfaction," "Brown Sugar," "Start Me Up."

I'm also surprised the British have ignored another major part of their musical heritage: The Beatles.
"Day Tripper?" "Birthday?" "Taxman?" "Paperback Writer?"

My personal fave riff to play when I warm up is Bowie's "Rebel Rebel." I'd put that above half on that list.

Missy, your right. I was currently listening to Maladroit and the Green Album so those songs came to mind.

Surf Wax America does have an awesome riff, but don't forget Say It Ain't So which also has an awesome riff.

Was there any sort of qualifications for this list or was it nothing more than songs people like. They should have gone for the most recognizable riffs list.
Rolling Stones definitely should have had at least one song up on this list.

Is it advisable to spread out all the conveniences of culture before people to whom a few steps up a stair to a library is a sufficient deterrent from reading?
