Today I helped a friend of mine at a yard sale in Washington, near Georgetown, in a neighborhood right next to Rock Creek Park (SWARMED with Cicades, by the way - nasty, red eyed BASTARDS!)

Anyway, the downstairs neighbor of my friend put some stuff out to sell as well, including a hard back copy of Robin Quivers' book "QUIVERS: A LIFE."

I asked him if he was a listener - and it turns out he's a huge, huge fan of Stern. He's about my age, African American (not that it really matters, but just as a point of demographic reference) and used to listen to Howard, Fred and Robin back when they were on DC-101, back in 1980/1981.

We swap some stories, and pretty much went about our day. Then later, the topic of Howard and radio came up again, and I asked if he listened to any other shows.

"Not so much Don and Mike anymore," he said, before going into the reasons that people who used to listen to D&M stopped, or at least cut back.

Then he added: "Do you know what show I really like? Ron and Fez." And then he launched into a detailed list of what he likes about them, how they are refreshing and honest, and different from everything else out there; how they really are the best thing on radio these days; they have a genuine chemistry; and on and on and on, concluding with how funny they were. He was lecturing me?! HA!

Naturally I agreed with him, and added a couple of points - including my hope of eventual domination of the 11-3 slot. It was pretty cool.

Cool Story in a small world! Happened to me with a couple people at work. Worked with or around them for a long time but never knew they were fans...
