Unless they work primarily as a consignment shop, you should receive the cash. Just don't expect to receive much.

Even jewelery (such as gold rings), don't fetch very much money. Often, the only give you the "value" of the item if it were melted down.

Sentimental value doesn't sell well.

Unless you're completely broke and in Atlantic City without a ride home, I would try to sell it on E-Bay rather than go the pawn shop route. It is more of a hassle but you're more likely to get a price closer to "market value".

Like it was said, unless you are savagely poor, sell your stuff online.

dont do it. sell what ever on ebay, pawn shops give you half value so they can make money.
i went to a pawnshop once in paterson to sell an old necklace i had been giving by someone that i hated at the time, and i only got offered like 30 bucks for this gold chain iwth a gold and onyx charm.
i did take it, bought some haze, and i dont miss the damn necklace one bit

I have some jewelry I want to get rid of. Maybe I'll sell it on ebay and get some haze too. :P

Has anyone ever sold stuff on ebay? I've never done it, I have mac and pc computer equipment other things I'd like to sell there but it seems like it might be difficult to do. That and figuring out how much to charge for shipping, etc. It seems like there's a lot of legwork involved, but I could be wrong.

I don't see the point.. it won't be much of a game without the rest of the pieces.

It's really easy. Take some digital photos, post it up with the handy web form. Take a guess with the shipping. As you do more auctions, you'll get a better feel for how much shipping is. And just get your packages out in a timely fashion after you receive payment.

if you work in an office, I'm sure that somewhere they have one of those handy postage meters. Using office property for personal use is as American as apple pie.

That, or got to UPS and have them weigh the package. Tell them you want 3-day shipping and that you don't have the adress yet as you are in the process of selling the item. that way you can get a price. not only that, but as soon as you get the payment, you just slap the adress on and drop the package off.
