WXTB/Tampa Does The Monster Mash

After dating them since early March, WXTB/Tampa has tied the knot with The Monsters. The seven-member ensemble show that originates across the state at WTKS/Orlando is 'XTB's permanent replacement for Bubba The Love Sponge.
Clear Channel RVP/Programming Brad Hardin says he's thrilled to remove the interim status from what he calls "the best kept secret in radio. We looked at several shows for 98 Rock and our search kept coming back to the show that we have on the air. Tampa will learn to love their edgy and entertaining style of humor."
Like Bob & Tom and Lex & Terry, The Monsters have seen their stock rise as a result of Clear Channel's Responsible Broadcasting Initiative. After the company dropped Howard Stern in late February, The Monsters dropped the "Of The Midday" from their moniker and moved up a daypart at their `TKS flagship.
And with Bubba out of the picture, they've been picked up by both `XTB and WPLA/Jacksonville, evolving into a regional Florida morning show.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution once described The Monsters as "an audio version of Maxim magazine: beer, babes, parody songs and pranks." The cast of characters includes Russ Rollins, Dirty Jim, Bubba WhoopAss Wilson, The Sexy Savannah, Jeff Howell, Daniel Dennis, and Blackbean.
