FYI - Congrats on the detox. I wish you the best of luck going forward and as corny as it sounds...take it "one day at a time".

Take pride and strength from what you are accomplishing. Showing that you are stronger than the drugs and alcohol...
And like James said, one day at a time and it should become easier...

You may needs meds (librium, etc) IV fluids for dehydration, pschyc/social counseling. 12 step meetings or the equivalent.....most people can't do it alone.....you may need lots of professional help!!!! In addition to what ppl are saying above, you may want to take up jogging or something similar. Running can cause the release of endorphins, causing a "natural high"

I say just hang in there man. You can do it.
But...
Try exercising.
is good advice.
Henry Rollins used to talk about how his best friend was a 25 pound weight and would just bust ass working out his frustrations basically. I try and do the same. It works pretty well.

Good luck and all the best, uncleryan. Get people around you who can help you (doctors) and people you can talk to and help you through this (support group, friends, family).
And I gotta be the third to suggest exercising. When I wanted to knock a few nasty habits in college, I started jogging and swimming and it REALLY helped me get through the "pains"...AND it got me into shape! Best of both worlds!

hey thats awesome.
and whoever said maybe stick with the cigs for a while; if i was having problems with booze, cigs, and pills [as i once did!] i let them go one at a time; booze first and foremost. Its the toughest at first, but in time, believe me... Everything will change. Everything.
and it will be fine
26 months no booze = i feel better then James Brown. Cigs? Hell yeah I smoke, em. Will they kill me? Something will; but the booze, for me, is just an alligator on the system. Again, not anti-booze, WOW I loathe the ex-boozers who say its all bad, and talk down to people who still have a brew.
My only experience with Vicodin is with two root canals. I found the Vicodin might have helped the pain, but my body was clearly beginning to *like* them, meaning: "Hmmm, if not one, why not two? if every four hours, why not every three?" and when I started thinking up excuses to get more from the dentist, at that moment, and it was tough, I flushed about 40 down the toilet.
Which reminds me, and some will gasp in horror, but after I played a gig with a band last month, a guy handed me a pack of cigs with 'something to smoke' and walked away. Cool, and old friend was giving me a bit of shibby.
I get home, open the pack, and a rock of Pure White Crystal the size of a small marble falls out. No powder at all, pure rock. Coke? Crack? Mazola? I still have no idea
Yep; looked at it, went over to the toilet. Flush.
