View Full Version : 'Puter problems b/c of Kazaa

The other day I tried to upgrade my kazaa completely forgetting I had kazaa LITE. The set up got too complicated so I tried to just delete the whole thing. I even emptied my recycle bin but kazaa still has a hold on my computer. I keep getting Norton anti-virus screens saying "Altnet Sharing Manager" is trying to access the internet. I block everytime but it's a pain in the ass to keep doing that. Plus, it makes my computer slow as shit!
I ran Ad-Aware, which made it worse because Kazaa depends on advertisers.
How do I rid my computer of Kazaa forever???
How can I et rid of Kazaa once and for all

Well there's one sure way which is drastic, but I do it. I re-image the entire drive. Most computer come with 'Recovery' Discs, and they essentially return your computer to the way it was when you opened the box.
But be warned, that means it wipes out Everything; meaning anything you installed since then will require a re-install, and some of the 'Recovery' CDs dont have all the stuff the computer had on it originally; some gets bundled on the HD.
Norton has a funny way of turning into HAL-9000 of you try to fuck with it. Many get 'Admins only' errors not allowing them to do anything, and there no other user, or even accounts. I'd uninstall that if it lets you, then uninstall Kazaa, deleting the Bullguard and Shared Folders, etc.
Are you deleting or going to 'add/remove programs' theres a huge difference, but i have a feeling you know this, and everything else i already said.

Have you tried to re-installing then uninstalling it? You can go to download.com (http://www.download.com) and get an unistaller or registry mechanic there that can completely uninstall it.

Do you have XP Pro? if so there is an option to restore your system back to the way it was a day ago. Not exactly sure how to do it but i know for sure it's an option. Maybe you can restore your system back to when you had Kazaa-Lite?

Besides Ad-Aware there is Spybot. We also use a specifc software we use that I can put up for anyone that would like to use it also. Included within the softeware is a site that is excellent information on getting rid of spyware.

do a find for Kazaa. Remove any folders you may find. Sometimes the like to hide shit places. Also, if you are daring enough (no idea how good you with computers, you can chnage your registry). Would not recomend the registry thing for a non technical person.
You could also bring it to the softball game. We could smash it with bats.
