Attacks spur U.S. demand for flags, guns, water

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT - news) sold 116,000 U.S. flags on Tuesday, more than 19 times the amount sold the same day last year, and Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR - news), the largest U.S. grocery chain, sold out of flags.

Next time you get a chance, get a hold of an encyclopedia or a dictionary that has a "Flags of the World" section. Take a good, long, hard look. I defy anyone to tell me Old Glory is not the most stunningly beautiful one in the world.

I am a sucker for anything with the stars and bars on it, and half my wardrobe and lawn furniture is adorned with it. My friends gave me the nickname "Captain America" a few years back due to my patriotic nature. How I wish I really was these past few days.

Yeah when I was a kid I always looked threw the encyclopedia with all the flags. USA's is the best.

Reeshy, thanks for the kind words, but I feel really funny being thanked by someone who does the kind of work you do. I could never thank you enough.

The events of the past week have really led me to think long and hard about my life and the kind of work I want to do. You know, real deep shit.

All I could think of after the second plane hit was how horrible it would be to die doing a meaningless, pathetic job like my previous one: selling auto body supplies. Is that what I want my legacy to be? That I sold more sandpaper and spray guns than anybody else? How depressing. I feel like I've really been wasting my time and potential, and that I should really be doing something meaningful. Any suggestions, anyone?
