I don't know what this thing is, but task manager calls it irqz.exe and it's taking up 35,000+K of memory to run. Anybody know of this or how I can remove it? Google search turned up nothing. Spyware and Ad-aware have also been unsuccessful.

I have also had pop-ups show up on my PC for the first time in about a year. And I have some pop up thing that opens up every time I open or close internet explorer. It unsuccessfully tries to open some page called belgiandip.com or something like that. At times, I'll be on a webpage and the page I'm on will fade (as if a pop-up is about to appear, but doesn't). And sometimes when I am typing, I will have to click the page again because it fades. When I click the page to continue typing, it will highlight entire lines of text. Then there are times when it will type in caps for no apparent reason.

Anyone know any helpful information?

My initial guess is that it's some form of spyware. As the others have said, get spybot and ad-aware, I put links to get both programs in this thread... (http://www.ronfez.net/messageboard/viewmessages.cfm/Forum/69/Topic/39159/page/What_is_Book_Mark_Express.htm)

i have a similar problem but haven't looked to see if it's irqz.exe and if it is that spybot and ad-aware do not catch it.

I know how you feel, recently my computer has been acting weird. I'm also getting a million pop ups when internet explorer is closed and yesterday aim just completly disapeared off my screen logged me off and closed my im windows. MSN has also made itself my homepage quite often even though i repedily set it to the blank one. I have also noticed a lot of programs not responding all of a sudden. I keep running spy boy and ad-aware and keep coming up with more and more things wrong. I'm pretty sure I have a virus of some kind I don't know where it came from exactly or how to get rid of it.

I also had a nasty virus about a year ago it was called Xupiter or something to that effect. Anyway it slowly took over my whole computer and ate windows. It really screwed things up when we tried to remove it, it was awful. Luckily my father is good with computers and rebuilt it so I wouldn't lose any of my saved data. Again I have no idea where it came from or how he fixed it.

i posted this a week or so ago, this is if you have XP Pro. lmstead of looking for processes and items in your startup file with the squiggly ~ line, look for your irqz or anything that looks like it. Remember, you can uncheck everything in your startup, the only thing i have checked is P2P Networking but it doesn't hurt anything. And look for other bogus 'explorers' processes, keep the capitalized one EXPLORER.

what OS do you have?

EDIT:

reason being i've found proceesses that started with the squiggly line and you don't need them. If it's XP Pro do a chtl/alt/delete and look at the 'running processes'. I had found several starting with the squiggly line and they were taking up to 40% cpu and i wasn't doing anything but looking at the process window.

If you find them you can select them and 'end process' Then you will need to go to the command line and type in 'msconfig' This should bring up a window with tabs and go to the 'startup' tab. I found these squiggly line processes in the startup so i unchecked them and rebooted. I got the system to start without starting these processes. Then i did a search on any file or folder with this squiggly line process name and it found it and then i deleted the folder.

Always make sure you delete from your recycle bin afterwards.

I was unable to get rid of these squiggly line things with Adaware. Not sure what they are it seems Adaware doesn't think they are bad...

Also: when you cntl/alt/delete and look at your processes you sometimes see several EXPLORERS.

Keep the capitalized EXPLORER and 'end process' on the rest...

EDIT #2 - after ending the other 'explorer' processes, run Adaware. It seemed to find these 'fake' explorer things.

then again that's if you have XP Pro

The thing is my anti-virus software has been doing an excellent job until a month or two ago. I started getting a pop-up of what appeared to be a broken link. It opened whenever I opened or closed IE. Then the past few days I've started getting regular pop-ups.

I have Spybot and Ad-aware 6.0. Is there anything more recent.

Anyone know what WulikqB2.EXE is? I looked in the processes thing like funkman said and found this eating up 26,460K. There were soo many processes running that I have no idea what they are. Where's supergeek when you need him.

KC,

do an 'end process' on it and then do the 'msconfig' thingie then to the startup tab and uncheck everything in there and 'apply'... it should tell you to reboot so do it. When you come up a window should pop up about how your startup has changed. Click on the box and answer 'yes'...

Then do the CNTL/ALT/DEL and see if the process is still running and go to the msconfig and make sure everything is still 'unchecked'...
