View Full Version : Am I getting screwed b/c of eBay?

I bid on and won this vacuum on eBay and I payed the guy by PayPal and all. The thing is, this vacuum is a commercial vacuum and I had asked the guy selling it where I can get bags for it and he sent me an email saying his store has them and so I replyed back that I would like to buy some from him. I havent heard a word back from him yet! I spent 3 hours looking online to buy these bags and cant find them!! Even the company that makes the vacuum has absolutely nothing of use on its website. It has part #s and what looks like an area to order stuff, but when you try and go to "check out" you get an Error 404 kinda message!
I tried searching anyway I can think of for this shit and its fruitless. I found a few sites that "seem" to have them but their order forms seem so cryptic its impossible. Maybe some of you could help? Its a vacuum made bt a company called NSS. It is a Marshall 18 vacuum. Could there be some secret to getting bags for this fucking thing? One site has them at $15.75 a pack of 10. But when you go to check out, it says it charges $20 extra for orders under $50!
I am fuming right now and the guy who sold it to me wont respond!! grrrrrrrrr!!!!

Just do what I do and empty the bags out when you are done. Good as new.

Do you put in any credit card information before you hit that 404 error page at checkout, cause if you put in any information that could be used for "badness", I'd get that checked out by the feds.

I hadnt put any info other than the part # before the 404 error, so I think its safe, but what frustrates the hell out of me and its making me desperate. I havent recieved the vacuum yet (I completed the transaction only Saturday), but Im really worried that I payed a lot of money for something that I wont be able to use!

I payed $295. Its listed as over $700 on the company website. It says its brand new in the box on the eBay listing.. I think Im fucked if I cant find them!
Its suppose to be a really good quality machine, and its rated very high, and Ive seen them being used in department stores. But to me, if I cant get the bags, its like buying a car without doors!!

Right now just worry about actually getting the vacuum, the see what your options are. If you can empty it or find a different company bag you can use. If all else fails you can make a makeshift bag.

I am sure you will be able to get bags somewhere. You should ask at your job or a friends job for the magazine they use to order office supply's. That or check the yellow pages for Industrial Supply's. I am sure you will be able to find them. Hopefully you will get the vacuum. Have faith.

You bought an industrial vacuum. These items are typically bought by large companies who can afford to buy in bulk. What is the big deal? Buy 4 packages for $15.75 a package. Sure you'll get 40 bags but at least you won't have to order any more of them for a few years.

SO what happened? We want an update! My own experiences on e-bay have been good overall, but there have been a few times where I had to use that complicated "report an asshole to e-bay & paypal" thing. I think there are rules about how long you have to wait before you report someone for being non-responsive, so check that out. If all else fails, post negative feedback, notify your credit card company, and report him to the post office for mail fraud if you don't get yer vacuum.

So far he still has not replied. I sent an email to him Friday night saying that if I dont hear back from him by Tuedsay with either a tracking # for UPS or an acknowledgement of any kind at all from him, that I will assume that he has no intention of shipping the vacuum and I will notify eBay and PayPal. I check my email yeterday and today and no response so far... I'll keep you posted. Anyone know what usually happens in this case where the seller doesnt ship the item or respond to you?

From what I understand, it's PayPal that will kick his asshole in if he fucks you. They have control over the funds transfers, etc, and their policy changes about 6 times a year to prevent people from pulling crap. You gave him a warning and a guy that runs an auction doesn't "not work weekends", like he may tell you when he gets back, if he does. I think you should check out the TOS on paypal, and send an e-mail off to paypal in the meantime, this has been well over a week, no? Post a link to this guy's auction and expose him for being a douchelips in the meantime!

Today basically he replied to my Saturday email like as if I had done something wrong! He quoted me where I said ' "you havent responded" ' with a bunch of ???????? after it. He is a dick from what I can tell. This item is listed as "brand new in the box" and if this thing comes (he has yet to reply after that with my requested UPS tracking #) and its scuffed up and obviously used I am going to get really pissed at this guy and make a complaint against him to eBay and PayPal. I guess my bad was that this guy had no prior selling history or any reviews or whatever and maybe I should never buy from someone who has nothing of a history.

NO History? NO BIDDING! I sold some shit and crap a few years ago, and stipulated that no one without a certain history could bid or I'd delete the bid. It weeded out the assholes. Now since you're the first and only person to buy stuff from this prick, you give him shitty feedback, he disappears, and sells his grandmother to the nazis for medical experiments.

Well, the vacuum arrived today. The box was banged to shit and it didnt look like the guy taped it up well at all, but it was in brand new condition. If not for the machines sturdy construction, I doubt that such dammage to the box would have protected a lesser vacuum. Lesson learned.

Well, I did end up getting in touch with the manufacturer and they put me in contact with a local distributor who can supply me them in 10 packs for $15m right in Brooklyn! So that part worked out!! I just used it to clean my apartment, and boy, does it suck! Its designed to lift up everything on the first pass, so it will make that office cleaning job I do on Fridays go by quicker. I still havent given the guy any feedback though...what do you suggest I put in there? I was thinking something along the lines of.. Package arrived 2 weeks later, but vaccum OK..or something....

I'd make it a neutral comment with what you wrote. Considering that the guy was really giving you the run-around I wouldn't give him a positive feedback.
