...and then is promptly suspended. She said he has been sent home time and time again for suspension and she realized it did not work. (http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/Northeast/06/11/teacher.soap.ap/index.html)
Jesus I want THIS WOMAN teaching my kids (if god forbid I have any) She has the right idea. I had my mouth washed out with soap as a kid and I learned to curb my fucking dirty mouth until the fucking right time to say such shitty things.
All joking aside, I totally support this teacher and I hope a majority of the community does as well.

Man, I feared my mom doing this to me more than anything else. It WORKS. Good for the teacher.

I remember I got it once as a kid. One time my sister got caught cursing, but nothing my mom did would condition her into behaving. So the next time she cursed, my mom gave her hot pepper. She ended up loving it.

2 things... first of all, i think the key word in that news story is "foster" mom. 2nd, i wish they would print what he said, what kind of "nasty, sexual remark" warrents soap in the mouth? usually when nasty sexual remarks are made they are followed with something else in the mouth.
was it a naughty nurses office?

"Parent" is also a verb. Perhaps if the parent(s) had done their job, the teacher wouldn't have had to do this.
That said, give that teacher a raise.

my Dad just had to give me 'the look' and don't remember cursing in front of Mom...
of course 'the look' works alot better after previous times of getting a few across the ass with the belt...

exactly. whoa. Former USMC; he could slay with a look.
maybe we need a 'Fucked Up Teachers' Discussion group, coz GodDAMN theres a shitload of them getting into trouble lately!
and from this ex-teachers experience; this one will all be decided, like with any pissed off parents, by if the parent wants the teacher out and makes enough noise. You can piss off your principal, your science supervisor, your kids. But the sure-fire way for a teacher, certainly the un-tenured, to get canned is to piss off the wrong parent.
right or wrong it isnt exactly the best thing to do in this PC Media Feeding Frenzy.

Rumor is the kid said, "We're in St. Patricks, and they're doing the ballonknot." What a horrible kid.
I never got soap in my mouth, a mouthload of pepper sauce, yes, soap, no.

Here's a link to the same story on another site - it has a few extra tid bits in it (http://www.wnbc.com/education/3400885/detail.html)
this woman should NOT get fired. but, she can't just get away with it. even though i agree with her decision, it can't take place in a school like that. if she gets off clear of it, you are going to get a ton of fruitys grabing kids jaws, prying them open, and shoving a bar in their mouth.
what she did wasn't abusive per say, but it was intrusive. man, he probably needed it, but it wasn't her place. i'd guess the kid probably just opened his mouth for her without the teacher even lifting a finger (other than to put that drop in.) still, not good.
this summer, i'm going to get a lot of "challanges" and a few would probably need that 99.44% in their mouth, but i have found better ways to deal with children who need the help.
this teacher is 48, and probably does not know how to exploit all the ways you can help a child. she's a drill sargent in her room and probably knows of only one or two ways to deal with a child like that.

Maybe the teacher shouldn't knock the hubcap full of bolts out of the kids hand when she's changing the tire, making him say the "F---" word...

i was thinking about this one "christmas story"... one thing that makes it stick in my mind is they say something like 'should've used Palmolive" after the kid dreamt he was blind and i used to work for Colgate Palmolive...
