The unit in one of my upstairs bedrooms died today. The previous owners of the house had dedicated 220 lines run for all of the bedroom Air conditioners. I have a new 115 sitting in my garage, but it will put too much of a strain on the circuit if I put it into use. I would like to use the 220, but Sears, Home Depot, etc, have been no help. It is basically a window type unit that was put into a hole in the wall that is caged in so we can still use the window. (i'll try and throw a pic up later if this is not clear)

Anybody???

Thanks.

try ge.com

General electric makes them and I'm pretty sure you can check models on the site and find local retailers as well.

440 into the house = a step-down transformer to 220V. That's standard UK voltage. Usually it steps it down to 115, which is the norm, and there ends my clueness, coz I dont know you can get a 220-115/110 s-dt, or have to go back to 440 to 110.

The above may well be 100% wrong.

Martin Mull: "Ya Makin' it all 220?"

Mr. Mom Keaton: "Yep: 220, 221... whatever it takes..."

thats seriously how much I know about real electrical science; meaning how to wire an outlet. I cant even do That.

Only thing I know about 220V and the UK is often all the music instruments and amps and electronics are 220V AC, and the venues have to supply said current, or actually in that case, i think maybe the band uses their own generators.
