View Full Version : I'm SICK of Party's

Since the end of May, every one of my weekend's has had one day shot thanks to either weddings, birthday party's, graduation party's, comfirmation's, baptisms, sweet 16's and a bachelor party. The party's are getting so out of hand that I had to put my foot down and tell my aunt that I cant go to the "going away" party of her son who is going to college in Arizona. They are having another party this weekend for my god daughter and I will go to that one because of that, but they want another party the following week for her brother, and I said I'll see him then. It just seems that things have gotten way out of hand this year. Did you ever have a summer that had this kind of continuous celebrating every weekend that prevented you from doing stuff?

What annoys me is that there's a party for every friggin' thing now. My nephew graduated from middle school to high school so we had to throw this huge party in a hall for him with tons of people. I don't get it. I mean it's only going into high school. I can understand a family taking the son or daughter out to dinner at a restaurant because they graduated high school or something. Though these days it seems like there's a party for every little thing.
Sweet Sixteen parties for girls used to be the family and some of their girlfriends over the house (I know because I have two sisters). Now there's a hundred + people and a DJ no less.
Is it that everyone now wants to feel like a celebrity or something that they have a huge banquet party bash-a-palooza for everything damn thing now?
"Suzie just had her period, lets rent a hall and invite 300 of our friends over!"
"Tommy got a 100 on his spelling test, let's have a party!!!"
The madness must stop!

I feel the exact same way. Holy shit, I have things every weekend through the middle of July. Friday night weddings, BBQ's for graduations, SUNDAY NIGHT!!! party at a hall for a god damn baptism. I HAVE WORK ON MONDAY YOU ASS. I am so mad about this.
All these damn catholic sacraments are the same time of year, communion and confirmation. Not to mention everytime you go to one of these stupid things you have to give a gift.
I think the reason there are so many party's are 2 fold. One, the parents like to get the kids some money of their own so they can leave them alone. and two, jelousy. One kid in the town who is wealthy has a nice sweet 16. Then the competition begins. who can top who.

Parties ARE uncomfortable. I prefer gatherings in public places much more. I'm not sure why, but I feel more "in control," whereas if it's a party at someone else's house, I feel trapped.
Though I love having a party at my apartment whenever I can, even if I'm subjecting the same thing I feel at other people's places on my guests.

im so happy i have a small family so there are hardly any parties during the year. sometimes its nice to see the family though, it always seems that families dont get together for the hell of it, if they see eachother its always celebrating something.

i could go for a party right about now. people at parties are usually happy, at least. it's nice to have something to celebrate, even if it's just for a couple of hours.

And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
A hand-me-down dress from who knows where
To all tomorrow's parties
And where will she go and what shall she do
When midnight comes around
She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown
And cry behind the door
And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
Why silks and linens of yesterday's gowns
To all tomorrow's parties
And what will she do with Thursday's rags
When Mon day comes around
She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown
And cry behind the door
And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
For Thursday's child is Sunday's clown
For whom none will go mourning
A blackened shroud, a hand-me-down gown
Of rags and silks, a costume
Fit for one who sits and cries
For all tomorrow's parties

I was able to "bullshit" my way out of a party this weekend by faking going away on a vacation. Its so sad that it had to come down to this. Dont get me wrong, its not that I dislike them or that I am antisocial, its that enough is enough!
