Actually Jeff the reason this guy was beheaded was because South Korea said that they were going to be sending 3000 more troops. And after this guy got his head chopped they sent the troops out immediately. Kind of like a "you think you can scare us too?" type action.
Gotta give them credit.

How can this discussion turn political? It's about a political event. Tragic, yes. But the attack wasnt against his family, it was against his government. Whats really sad is that people think if we leave Iraq immediately, this savagery will stop. Anywho, God bless this man's soul and those of his family.

I agree, if we were to suddenly "pull out" because of this, it would show them that we are intimidated by their tactics and then things would get worse. Its like giving into a bully. No, the only thing we should do is show them that we dont back down from terror and run away. I feel really bad for these men who have died like this, having to beg to be spared and then they do it anyway while a videotape rolls. I really dont have an answer on how to stop it, but if the regular good people there could help us out in getting rid of this nasty element of their culture, it would help all of them and us too. Extremism in any form is a bad thing.

Perhaps, though I still to this day do not believe for one second that the man behind all this Osama bin Laden has done a single thing in the true name of religion or at all for his people. Instead it has from the very beginning been completely about him and his thirst for power.

they were pawns and misguided individuals who have been influenced by their 'so-called' religious leaders who seek to keep the power in their own little world that they feel is righteous and anyone who is against them is evil and must be destroyed...

these people in Iraq who are performing the beheadings want to derail the American objective so once the US leaves they will make their move to rule by force in turn obtaining the power which in turn brings financial gain...
