Iran...Friend or Foe?

When the hell were they our "friend?"

"Air...do you breathe it or not?!?"

Nice lie. You'd fool everybody except that my reply was before you edited the post. For everyone who couldn't see the original article he linked to, it was a year and a half old.

Iran was our friends in the late 80's.

I think releasing the hostages was very nice of them. If they were NOT our friends, why would we give them weapons to fight the Polish?

Read a history book ... jeesh.

Iranian government: hates America
Iranian people: love America.

I read some recent articles where they interviewed a number of young Iranians who railed against their thocratic government and secretly longed to have a more American culture.

However, it's hard to call them a friend when they seized three British patrol boats.

I've met plenty of Iranians that hated America.

It's more accurate to say, "young Iranians love America"...or at least our pop culture, money and food.

There's a HUGE generational gap over there, where the majority of the population is under 35 at this point, and they're very Westernized. Hopefully (And it looks likely) that Iran will undergo a very natural cultural revolution within the next 10 years, much like China is right now.

And apparently "I ain't got time to spell": that should have read "theocratic government".

NOT TO WORRY!

If the Iranians get antsy and blow up a couple hundred Americans, all we gotta do is look down the bench and get Ollie North back in the game.
We'll just send him over there with a few thousand anti-tank missiles and electronic and satelite intel, like the last time, and everything will work out just fine.

Besides, with Ronald Reagan still being in mind and Bush wanting nothing more than to appear "Reaganesque," what better move could he make, given the circumstances?
