Hey there, I'm now stationed with the Marines in sunny Pensacola, FL. Anyone been here and know of anything good to do?

I spent four years assigned to Eglin AFB just down the road in Ft Walton. The beaches are some of the best in the world.

Yeah, they're pretty nice. I was surprised at how redneck-ish it is here. It's just like they say, Southern Alabama.

That's why it's called the "Redneck Riveira"

You gotta check out the "Flora-Bama Lounge" on the state line on the beach. Almost always live music, and home of the world famous "Mullet Toss". (Legend has it, former 'Bama and Raiders QB Ken Stabler is the record holder).

But that's about as close to the Bama side as you want to get. Trust me, I'm on "that" side of the line and there's not much going on over here.

But yeah, the sugar white sand beaches are some of the most gorgeous in the world.

Oh, and in case you haven't noticed yet, College Football is a religion down here... you'll see what I mean in about two months.

I've heard of Flora-Bama before. Maybe I'll check it out. Any idea how far it is from the base?

Oh, and as far as the college football thing, I know what you're talking about. One of our Lieutenants who was prior enlisted (including a tour as a DI at Parris Island) was telling us how "One of the hardest things I've ever had to do was go to college at Auburn as an Alabama fan. It was hell."
