I know what you mean, Mike. As soon as you hear the news of these kind of threats, you hope for some kind of unexpected, wonderful miracle that sets these poor hostages free, but deep down you just have the sickening sense of reality creeping up on you.
Awful.
We need to find Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and FAST.

Apparently we just missed him during some recent strikes in Fallujah.
Even if he IS caught, I don't think it will necessarily stop these beheadings.

Ron made a good point on the show sometime this past week. This beheadings won't stop until we stop being suprised by them, the terrorists will see the the terrorizing-by-beheading method is not effective anymore and they'll have to find something even sicker to do.

The one I've been expecting for years is something along the lines of
"Israel says 'Fuck It' Sends nukes into..."
and insert your favorite israel hater.
I remember the US asking Israel to 'chill' while Saddam was lobbing scuds that way the first time this movie played. At the time I thought Israel was being very patient; given how theyve dealt with some things in the past; meaning with swift, heavy assault. But not nukes... yet.
And a modified scenario for China and Pakistan and perhaps N. Korea...

it seems a little confusing that the US has suggested people leave Saudi Arabia due to terrorist threats but i don't hear about anyone suggesting that people leave Iraq...
people who are looked upon as US friendly are taking their lives into their own hands. then again, the companies they work for are putting their lives at risk...
but, they will never fully eradicate suicide bombers and terrorists from Iraq or any other Arab nation... people have to decide what risks are worth taking...

True but technically Iraq is a "war zone" -- Saudi Arabia isn't. By definition, Iraq is more dangerous.

Iraq is more dangerous.
then why wouldn't we suggest anyone other than 'military related personel' to leave the country?
i guess we could suggest it but it doesn't mean they'll go.

I wonder what the effect of this will be. I read this morning that Turkey wont negotiate with them, so I imagine they will be beheaded. Now, if your a person working in these countrys and hear that your own government wont go to bat for you, Id have to think that anyone working there would figure it would be in their best interest to leave as soon as possible, right? Isnt that also what these terrorist groups want to begin with? I realise its almost an impossible line for any goverment to cross and it kind of ties thier hands no matter what. If we keep our people there they are in danger and we cant protect them, so they leave on their own, and the terrorists win. If we order the people out, its a failure, and the terrorists win.

Combine these beheadings with the rampant bombings, it seems the terrorists just want a body count that consists of somebody, ANYBODY at this point.
I don't understand who they're "fighting for" since they've killed more Iraqis than anyone else.

Do you think they care? These guys already hate everyone who doesn't follow their particular insane variation of fundamental Islam.
Ron mostly right in his comments on the beheadings. They'll stop if countries continue to do what, so far, they have been doing, which is to NOT give in to the terrorist demands. When these assholes finally take the hint that the decapitations aren't doing the trick, they'll move to some other form of slaughter.

How is it possible that we are in the middle of a major clusterfuck in Iraq and our only two choices for president this November are Bush and Kerry?
We desperately need a leader with conviction, common sense, determination, and integrity to get us out of this one, not one of these two losers.

The only one who ever seems to make alot of sense to me is John McCain. Is there a reason he isn't running? I know in 2000 he was thinking about it and Bush ran some ads saying McCain was crazy because he was a POW in Vietnam.

Because as smart a guy as he is, he's still locked into party politics. He's not as conservative as a lot of his "party-mates," but he IS loyal to the Republicans, and him running against a standing Republican president would only split the party and basically give the Democrats the White House on a platter, no matter what stone-face goon they put up to represent them.

And that is one of the reasons I hate American politics.

Mike, Mojo, back before we went in there and I was predicting a "California-sized West Bank of our very own," I also predicted that we would one day see videos of an American being tortured released on the net.
