Is it to early to start a thread about whatever Bush is planning to pull out of his bad of tricks before the election?

How many people are using the term "october surprise" to descibe when he "captures Osama" or produces some other big newsworthy item?

it's never too early to over analyze politics ....

there are a few options:

+ osama (or a series of high level al-qeada) is captured

+ gas prices dramatically drop between the convention and novemeber

+ worst case scenario: another attack happens in the US in the weeks before the election, much like spain, and bush postpones/suspends election until order is restored

then again, hopefully nothing outside the norm and our cynical, paranoid tendencies can be laid to rest ...

eh ...

I think that if something like a "suprise" capture happened right before the election, even though I generally support Bush, I would have serious doubts about the truthfullness of the timing. I have been hearing for over a year now that Osama is "already in custody" or whatever, but every "source" seems to be less then credible

That would work, but if he releases him within a week of the election everyone will be stupified and will (or so they hope) vote for Bush regardless of their previous judgements.

No matter what happens there will be an October surprise. Reagen had one, Bush had one, Clinton had one.
The other side always calls something an October surprise. It's so expected these days its not much of a surprise.

An attack on US soil or producing Osama RIGHT before the election will be fishy.

My prediction: A massive, simultaneous terrorist attack on 5 major American cities, 4 European capitals, 2 East Asian used car dealerships, and a dairy farm in Nottingham, England. All perpetrated by GW Bush's Shadow government, of course. This will lead to Bush suspending Habeus Corpus, postponing the elections, outlawing the UN, invading and conquering every Security Council nation, lowering all speed limits to 35, getting rid of the DH, and requring all males under the age of 13 to go back to wearing 'short pants'.
