Taken from a post off an North Jersey AOL guide, people writing their experiences down at ground "hero" (which I'd rather call it than ground zero).

From ********

Went up to ground zero on Friday and worked in the bucket brigade, the guy next to me in full NYFD helmet bunker pants etc. looked familiar so during a 5 second break I introduced myself, when he told me his name as we shook hands I was taken aback to say the least. It was Steve Buscemi the actor. He was once a NY Firefighter and when he heard the news he went right to his old firehouse, donned his gear and went out to the scene. What an American.

I also heard some NY Giants players were down there volunteering.

I think it's great they are helping out with normal civilians and in times of crisis they can put their celebrity status aside to help out fellow Americans. It was very moving to read this!

Hats off to Michael Imperioli for helping out at 'ground zero', as well!

I think this tragedy has shown us exactly how useless the term "celebrity" is...

My thoughts are with all the victims and the heros on the ground in NY and VA. </font>

I think it's cool that they'd want to help out, but an FU to those who have to be on the news and talk about it. I forget which "celeb" it was who allowed herself to be interviewed, but it was totally unnecessary.

I wish I loved the human race; I wish I loved its silly face; I wish I liked the way it walks; I wish I liked the way it talks; And when I'm intoduced to one; I wish I thought, What jolly fun!

I actually did see her mug in the paper, but didnt hear anything from her ( Kathleen Turner ). God, it'd be the first few minutes she's had on TV since " Serial Mom ".
It is cool how people for the most part have put aside politics and things of that nature during this time. It will not last ( the unity ), but we can enjoy it in the mean time.
A lot of the storied from around the country are really cool. Many people, far from NY, who may have never even visited here have shown support outside of the usual " America for America " support. Letterman told a good story ( I wont do it justice by reiterating it ) about a community in the midwest that has been on hard times, but still took the time to raise money for the relief effort here in NY.
Good stuff.

I have balls !!!
