ARTISTS & FRIENDS OF ARTISTS: RONFEZ.NET NEEDS YOU

[FMJeff]

We're looking for anime versions of Ron & Fez for a future site redesign. Winning versions as judged by the staff with a final decision by me will recieve $100 cash! Please submit your versions to this thread or email me at info@ronfez.net.

Some rules:

1) They HAVE to look like Ron & Fez.I can't stress this enough. When people look at them, they have to instantly identify the two characters as anime versions of Ron & Fez. Look at the current caricatures for inspiration.
2) They HAVE to be original work. Any resemblance to existing anime characters will be refused (and I will know...trust me)
3) You must be willing to sign all rights to the images over to RonFez.Net. Release contracts will have to be signed and mailed to us before you recieve the prize money.
4) Winning artist must be willing to draw an additional 3-4 drawings in different poses.
5) All work must be submitted in a graphic format I can open in Photoshop. Hard copies will not be accepted. If you don't have access to a scanner, find someone who does.
6) They must be in the style of Japanese anime. Check the web out for inspiration.
7) Do not draw the characters with weapons.
8) Contest expires July 31st.

I am still here but don't really do anime or anything like that at all. I am not even really drawing cartoons anymore either. It seemed to be a passing fad. My characters of R & F are a bit outdated and I think there needs to be something fresh. I had my fun and R & F told me they liked my work and I hope they were being honest but I think I am nothing but a distant memory as far as that is concerned. I am quite excited to see some new and different versions of the R & F characters cause I am sure they will be so much better than my little sketches. Good luck to whoever wins!

Anyway, for some further clarification, I was thinking about the South Park episode where they all went anime...it was hilarious and i thought it would be even more funny for Ron & Fez...the reason i say no weapons is you can do something clever like a cigar or a fez or what have you...

I was going for the old style look of Astroboy as a matter of fat. Since that was just a preliminary, I am not really to happy with it. The bodies (Danzig) are too lanky and need to be compressed a bit more. I dunno if you're using Photoshop or not. But if you are, you have to go into Program Files on the C Drive. Then you go into Common Files. Then you go into the Adobe File and drag the fonts into the Fonts file.

If you're not using Photoshop, well, then ... um ... err ...

Actually, there's a definite Japanimation influence on this piece... so I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for in Animation.

Fez's expression, the overabundance of cookies, and other things about the piece are definite trademarks of Japanese animation and artwork.

Anime is far-ranging... it's not just hot chicks in space suits, karate dudes, mutants, tentacles, schoolgirls, and rape.

For chrissakes, Fez almost looks like a grownup Sprytle (from Speed Racer) in that picture.
