D&M Get Tampa Add, R&F Do Too - 7/7 - Yesterday, DCRTV exclusively reported that WJFK-FM's Don and Mike will air in a market where they used to be heard - Tampa. And now, we hear that their 106.7 mates, Ron and Fez, have also been added by the same Infinity-owned Tampa AM hot talker - 1010thebuzz.com. That's the station which recently announced that it's adding Howard Stern, too. DCRTV hears that D&M will soon reveal three more stations for their national Westwood One show. Also, a source tells DCRTV that R&F are still pushing to again be heard in NYC.....

Actually, I would look more towards the new stations that Howard is going on. Infinity just cleared him on Infinity owned stations in a BUNCH of markets, some of which were the ones he was yanked from in Clear Channel.

Like Tampa, some of them may also be getting Don and Mike - I heard them briefly tease yesterday that they were being cleared on some new FMers in some markets, including some where they had been on. I'm guessing it's not a complete coincidence that their announcement came right after Howard's good news. They are building brand new talk stations and they need content.

That doesn't mean Philly (or NY), though, since it has Stern on a rock format, and D&M failed. At least not with this particular model. It's more than likely a Pittsburgh, where they are building a talk station with Howard in the AM, and D&M in the afternoon.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ron and Fez are added to some of these new affiliates as well, like what happened in Tampa, as the new stations rev up their programming. It helps that there are multiple stations all with this same line-up. Something for them to point to as examples of how this can actually work.

It's piggy backing on top of piggy backing (And to think we have Clear Channel and the FCC to thank for this)! The good news is, at some point Ron and Fez will be shining all on their own, and they will be able to get some clearance all on their own - I think THAT is where you will see markets like NY and Philly come in to play with them.
