Whoopi Goldberg said some things at some gathering of Hollywood people that kerry and edwards were at and she used Bushes name to say some bad things...I guess comparing Bush's name to the Bushy part of a woman I don't know.....Conservatives were going ape saying that this was a horrible thing to do and the Liberals were going on about how Bush deserves it...any thoughts?

Whoopi made some derogatory comments about GW Bush. 7.5 million was raised for the dems. Kerry made a comment saying that the event represents the common American values, sounds more like the Osborne family

Why is it that if you're an actor or actress you suddenly have the capability of having an influence on politics? Or at least thinking that you do?

The Bush camp said Kerry should have disavowed the comments as soon as they were made. "John Kerry just sat there, grinning like a mule eating briers," said Sen. Zell Miller (D-Ga.), a Bush supporter.

It's actually getting surreal. Firmly planted not on the fence but floating above it; both tickets suck ass if you ask me, but it would seem:
-There was a fund raiser where some dirty talk was used, Whoppi saying the Bush joke like it wasn't done by Calin et al back with Bush 1.
Now, if I was on the Rep party, or election team, whatever, the LAST thing I would want to do is to make what she said an issue, coz if this is all you got, that is Weak. Especially given the VP recently told a pal to Fuck Off several times, and if memory serves, not only saying he did it, but defending it.
As if there weren't about 70873 issues I'd say are more important for discussion.
Seriously, I'm trying to get Carlin-like distance from these parties so I can see them both do this dance and try to not be swayed by the Bullshit.

I think only country music is played at Bush fundraisers. See Sean Hannity's Freedom concert as an example which raised money for the troops who have died to support their families..

Oh, the same family Bush had as guests to the White House, and that he happily said time and time again he was a big fan of?
See Sean Hannity's Freedom concert as an example which raised money for the troops who have died to support their families..
Which has WHAT to do with Bush?
And y'know, these celebrities are supposedly on my "side" politically, yet I've always been able to ignore their inane chatter ever since I became interested in politics. Why can't the other side do the same, especially since they supposedly hate them SO much?
Who the fuck cares which celebrity says what about which candidate? Quit playing their fucking "pay attention to me" bullshit game.

sarcastically, one might say (considering the mass church movement to support Cheney/Bush)- 'Why is it that if you're a priest or reverand you suddenly have the capability of having an influence on politics?' there is separation of church and state, not entertainment and state.

It's a fundraiser.
It's nothing new.
Nobody gives a fuck if a corporation drops a ton of cash in a candidate, but suddenly we're supposed to care because celebrities have a fundraiser where they dare to have opinions and tell awful jokes. GASP. SHOCK. HORROR. This is important!
It was a private event filled with celebrities, so of course the press got their boners up and packed the place. Is this really a surprise to anyone?

Whoopi Goldberg hasn't been relevant since what? 1995?
It's for publicity and it isn't working.

Most of the candidates are typically wealthy on their own (Bush is no slouch himself). Since there are little restrictions on how much money they can raise for their campaigns, they usually go hogwild with as many big money fundraisers as possible..."just in case"...
It's all dirty and awful.

bush reminds me of the rich kid who dicked around in class, never saw the importance of studying because he was just going to get daddy's business, and told the teacher off. And then when the teacher tried to discipline him, he would just act like "you're below me and my dad will ruin your life if you tell on me."
