View Full Version : Job Frustrations - Need Advice

Lately, I have been very frustrated a work. I am realizing that I am bored with my field, but that change will have to wait a while. As will a job change, because the next one will not be in this field.

But, what I need advice with, is whether or not I should voice my frustrations to my boss. In no particular order, this is what I'd like to complain about:

1) We have no retirement plan, and I am working paycheck to paycheck with no savings account. So not only am I not saving money myself, no one else is saving any for me either.

2) Along with the no retirement plan, our only benefit is health insurance, which we have to pay half of. I have no problem with that, so I don't see why they refuse to get us disability insurance, god forbid something happens. We could pay half of that too.

3) We have no written vacation plan. Therefore we have no way of knowing how many vacation days per year we are allowed to take. Now, this wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that the bitch boss gives you the third degree everytime you ask for a day off. I would like to go tell her I am taking days off, then when she gets bitchy, just be able to directly tell her that the policy SAYS I can take so many days off.

So, I know that no one read that, but on the off chance that you skimmed, do you have any advice?

Whats the fields you want, what are your skills in the fields you want, how easy is it to move into your desired field, etc.

I hear ya, but kinda tough with so little info; if its sensitive like Black Ops, then no worries, just please Kill me Last.

forgive me for saying so, but your job sounds like it sucks, in terms of the benifits that is.

Complaining to your boss is dicey. it all depends on how much of a prick he is and how much they need you. Is he they kind of guy to take your complains as a personal attack? will there be reprisals for speaking out?

Mike, I'm not sure what I want to do next. Right now, I just want to make this current job better for the time being.

Furie, it does suck. I don't think that he would take it as an attack. There are two of us at my level, and I am the more respected one. They have, in the past, accused my coworker of trying to turn one boss against the other, but I have no direct complaints against either of them. I just need better benefits. I also feel like I am paid less than the average for a person of my experience level, but I have noway of proving that.

Based on the fact you can't get a 401k plan or any kind of solid vacation time (Is it the same with sick days, too?), I'd start looking around and exploring my other options. These days, a retirement plan of some kind is essential. If a company doesn't offer one, they're really not appropriate for any kind of longterm career.

I turn 41 in a month and I'm still figuring what to do when I grow up.

It defintiely depends on the field. The economy is "wobbly" right now, but certain fields ARE wide open to people with the right training, experience or education. It all depends on what Tazz is interesting in doing.

we should make a club budday; we're in the same boat. or a gang. here's what i'm planning to do:
buy a handgun and start robbing crack dealers. as long as you don't shoot above the waste, it's not attempted murder. it can go on for a while, i'm sure, but hey if i get caught, i get 3 square meals, room & board, and free education of 5 to 7.
