White girl kidnapped in NJ - where's the coverage?

One of the biggest complaints I hear is that cute white girls get all the media coverage when they are kidnapped, but other nationalities/races get zero coverage.

OK, so this girl gets kidnapped an hour away from Media Market #1, and I don't hear a peep about this until today, when someone's been charged with murder.

Is it because the cops knew who did it the whole time and asked for a media blackout?

Sam Manzie lived around the corner from me. I'll never forget the day that the police were searching for the kid he killed. They literally went around my neighborhood, searching in everybody's backyard. Nobody complained. Very sad shit, this stuff is.

This is exactly my point. Nobody made any mention of her disappearance until this weekend or today, or slammed it home with any relevance until she turned up dead.

The most important time when someone disappears is the first 24 hours. She disappeared on the 11th. Why didn't we hear anything about this until now?

I'm not denying the story is sad and tragic. What I want to know is, what happened to the news coverage?

Hell, when that girl was kidnapped on video, we knew about it instantly.

Even so, a Cute Blonde Girl (tm) should have been all over the news within a day of her vanishing. What happened? The media would have jumped on this.

I've seen her picture on the news since Friday. Not a huge amount of coverage though. Maybe a 30-second segment on her disappearance, and that's about it. It's really sad.

I agree Tenbatz, it's about 20 minutes from me and the coverage seems to have just started.

This is Kid Murder central; I'm about 30 mins from where Megan Khanka lived before the FuckNut Temendequas killed her; and about that far from Eddie [weurnos? that cant be it] was killed selling door-to-door; and let us not forget that crazy girl who had a baby during her prom, cut the cord on the bathroom towel dispenser, dumped the kid, and then went back to the Prom.

Fun times explaining this shit to a student.

Oh yeah that reminds me, right before my first Pro teaching gig at Sayreville NJ high school, a Kid was Abducted there; everything pointing to Mother, and I cant remember what the fuck happened.

And my Mom gets her knee replaced tomorrow morning by the Doctor who had his 13 year old killed in a Limo Van accident in Florida in February.

One measure of a society is how it takes care of it's children. We can look to our politicians, and philosophers, and artists, and lawyers, and others, but there's the real measure. We are something like 19th in infant mortality; meaning there are that many countries whose babies have a better chance of survival then in the USA.

A Society that can not hold its responsibility to ensure the freedom and safety of its children is a society that may well have died.

Hundreds of people, children, teenagers, vanish every day. You could have a daily show covering all the disappearances in one day. It is just too much. Many of them no one notices, some of them no one cares.

One thing to keep in mind when hearing these stories is that these kinds of abudctions are not happening at higher rates thatn they have in the past. The reason that they are on the news all the time is that they are great stories; very tragic, something everyone can empathise with, something that will get ratings.

I didn't know so many people were so close to me. I live in Toms River. My GF is from Brick and her little brother is in the same class as this girl. And saw her the day before. I really want to know more details about this event. Its a sad state of affairs but the worst part, aside from the end, is that she called her parents for a ride at 10:30 PM that night. They didn't want to go home from a friends house to give her a ride. She wanted to go to her BF's house....

.....After that I am unsure exactly what happened but the rumor is that she talked to this guy (a family friend) on the computer and asked him to give her a ride. A little later she got picked up....


Also, my mother told me that she was found today and the location 3 minutes from my house....crazy

Fuller incriminated himself in talks with informant, sources say

An informant whose advice Jack Fuller Jr. sought about how deep to bury the body of 16-year-old Brittney Gregory played a crucial role in Fuller's arrest on murder charges, several law enforcement sources said yesterday.

Fuller, 38, of Howell called the man -- whose name the sources would not disclose -- and asked him for help, the sources said.

"He called this guy and said, 'I killed this girl but I don't think I buried her deep enough,' " one of the sources said.

The man, who lives in Monmouth County, went to authorities with the information. Ocean County prosecutors then wired him and the man recorded a conversation with Fuller, which led to Fuller's arrest, the sources said.

During the recorded conversation, Fuller implicated himself in the homicide, sources said, but did not disclose the location of the body.

Midday update from the Asbury Park Press
STAFF REPORT
LAKEWOOD -- Authorities discovered a body here today they believe to be Brittney Gregory and have scheduled a 3 p.m. news conference to discuss it, according to sources.

Gregory, a 16-year-old Brick girl who has been missing since July 11, has been the focus of a manhunt that has spanned Monmouth and Ocean counties since July 18.

That was the day Jack Fuller Jr., 38, of Howell was charged with Brittney's murder. Fuller is an acquaintance of Brittney's family, but investigators have released no information on why they charged Fuller with murder.

Sources said the discovery was made in Lakewood but no specific site was named. Investigators from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and other agencies have searched wooded areas in Lakewood, Howell, Brick and Wall Township for the past week.

Fuller, who has a history of drug problems and convictions for burglary and theft, was known to frequent the woods in several of those areas.
