it's considered a secret formula...

Southern Comfort's unique American spirit is still one of a kind, and still made according to the much-guarded secret original formula.

here is some info i found about making something similar:

Making Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey

"Making Bourbon whiskey is a combition of art and science," says Wild Turkey Distillery.

Alcohol and water boil at different temperatures; water at 100C and Alcohol at 78.3C. Thus when heating a fermented mixture, the vapour is released first to be cooled and condensed into a spirit at a highter strength. Alcohol contains a wide range of chemical compounds including ethyl alcohol, aldehydes, amyl alcohol, esters, acids and methanol, which all are resulted by a combination of the raw material and fermentation.

Master Distillers
Master distillers are involved in different steps of the whiskey making process, from inspecting the ingredients, selecting barrels, monitoring temperatures and determing when the Bourbon can be bottled out of barrels.

Julian Van Winkle, Independent Bottler of Old Rip Vin Winkle Bourbon, told Cocktail Times, "My grandfather always used wheat instead of rye in his Bourbon formula. This makes for a smoother and mellower flavor that most other Bourbons. The wheat also ages more gracefully than rye based Bourbon."

On the other hand, Wild Turkey tells us that they are proud to produce their whiskey with more rye than other distilleries. As being said, each distiller makes their whiskey based on their tradition and beliefs, and the consumer judges the taste by their personal preference.

Bill Samuels of Maker's Mark says, "Not so many people really know about the Bourbon, but people keep buying our product because they have emotional attachment to the brand."

Four Roses distillery had one of the engineers to create an original software to oversee the entire distilling process at their distillery. On the other hand, Maker's Mark distillery, located about 45 minutes away from Four Roses, claims that the every step of their production is handcrafted from selecting the ingredients to sealing the bottle with the famous red wax that arrives from India.

Master Distiller of Four Roses, Jim Rutledge explains, "Bourbon can be made anywhere within the border of the United States." Today over 90% of Bourbons are produced in the state of Kentucky. Bardstown Kentucky is officially recognized as the Bourbon Capitol of the World. The town once held more than 20 distilleries. Toay Bourdstown hosts the annual Kentucky Bourbon Festival to help promote the Bourbon industry.

Many distilleries are located around Bardstown. Distillery tours are available for free. During the tour, visitors are taken to inside the distillery to see their operation. Taking a distillery tour is the best way to learn the Bourbon whiskey process.

Southern Comfort is distilled from/with caramel, which is why it's so sweet.

That movie rocks; and sits Way Up on my list of movies that you go, 'where's everybody else on this one'?

Bunch of Weekend Warriors National Guardsmen get lost in the swamps of Louisiana, and find some of the sub-culture, and it exists, extire little populations in the sticks that have almost Nothing to do with modern society, and well, the Indigenous people don't take to kindly to the Men.

For some reason this movie kicks my ass. Love it. Think Deliverance; add Mili Uniforms, subtract forced anal sex on Ned Beatty.

Wow, you look at some sentences and say, hmmm; I doubt I'll ever write that again...

I only like my southern comfort one way: with lime as a shot.

If you can find out what Yukon Jack is made out of you'll know what SoCo is made of 'cause essentially they're the same stuff.

Enjoy your SoCo.

SoCo and lime is indeed a tasty shot. A lesser known trick is to add in some amaretto- VERY tasty...

Yukon Jack is made from honey. It's like Canadian Whiskey and honey. A review:

"According to the Yukon Jack label--a label colored tan and gold in what seems to be an effort to look simultaneously rugged and rich, but instead comes off looking like the teeth of a lifelong smoker with questionable dental hygiene--this liquor is "a taste born of hoary nights, when lonely men struggled to keep their fires lit and their cabins warm." Which is odd, because most of the Canadians I've met seem remarkably free of self-delusion and transparent artifice, and yet this liquor (really a liqueur) has them both in spades. Yukon Jack does not harken back to hoary nights and will do nothing to help you keep your fire lit. And you must be slightly suspicious about any alcohol that brags about "lonely men" directly on the bottle.

Quite simply, this is some nasty liquor.

Aftertaste: Honey (The aftertaste is better than the actual taste)
Strength of Hangover: Unknown. It is highly unlikely that anyone would drink enough of this to be hungover the next morning. It is definitely not something you'd want to throw up, though."

It has a secret formula, but its mainly a bourbon mixed with over a hundred ingredients, the main one being peaches.

Ha!

Strength of hangover: 11.

Throwing up: You won't want SoCo or honey or anything even resembling syrup for a while. Like, 20 years.

Have thought of it as Puke On Jack for a couple of decades now.
