Lance extends overall lead
Damn. Lance Armstrong is an incredible individual. He finished today's stage a minute and one second faster than the second place rider in a climb that is so steep that it isn't even rated on the cycling scale of difficulty. He's almost 4 minutes ahead of second place in the overall standings with 4 of 20 stages left. Damn.

Fuck it from behind.
It's just rediculous.
What he's doing takes ball.

Well to have 5 straight and maybe six straight of anything is a very incredible feat...just too bad that noone here in the US really gives two squirts of piss

I may go to Rider but I'll always be Marist Mike. Maria Sharapova is the future mother of my children.

Schumacher has won 6 F1 championships, and is Currently on his 7th, but they have not all been in a row. Valentino Rossi has won several MOTOgp championships in a row. Those are the only two feats I can think of that compare. Oh Wait. This is the US no one cares about F1, or MOTOgp.

What I like about Armstrong is that he takes life by the balls!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of people care about what Armstrong is doing. At least a lot of people know about him. You'd have to search pretty far to find anyone even remotely knowledgeable about sports that doesn't know about this guy.
Is it on par with any other achievements in real sports? Probably not, but it's still pretty impressive.

His sport, yes. Him and his story, no. In 2002 he was third behind Tiger and Jordan in sports endorsements. I don't know where he is now. Greg LeMond was the same way in the mid-90s. He was a household name while nobody gave a crepe about the Tour de France.
Armstrong: Sports' invisible superstar - Tour de France champ has great popularity and endorsements, even though no one watches his sport.

Lance's achievements and life-story is absolutely amazing. A few days ago, a writer attributed Lance's success in the Tour this year to his team--which in part is true.
But today, it was just Lance against the clock and he destroyed the field. Today was his third stage win in five days. He's one of the greatest athlete's of all-time. Six consecutive Tour de France victories and your 6th one at age 32 is amazing.
His average speed for all the stages combined is 25.62 mph. Hell he is riding up mountains where there's ski resorts. And doing day after day.
Plus, Lance damn near died of cancer. Absolutely, amazing.

while his comeback from cancer alone is admirable there are serious suspicions about his blood doping. i was watching something on ESPN about how a camera crew followed a car from his team that drove about 100 miles to dump a bag of garbage, when the camera crew opened the ba it contained dozens of syringes. i want to believe he's clean but there are WAY too many indicators to the contrary.

My bro met him a couple of times, spoke with him once. He admits pretty much to anyone who will listen; i'm not a role model, dont wanna be known as one. And it may be because, and even he will acknoeledge this, he can be kind of a dick if one measures a 'dick' by a person's attitude. And some walk away seeing Mr. A as a guy with a sort arrogance. Hey, I dont give a crap, in fact, I LOVE un-PC athletes, let him cross the live in vistory with two missle fingers extended. Now THAT would make some papers that usualy dont cover the Tour De France.
I havent read it, but my bro says one interpreatation of 'its not about the Bike' is, well; thats coz, It's about Me. Hey, good enough; you survived the big casino and fucking A after that it's all Gravy.
As to the doping; athletes have been doping for thousands of years.

I don't have much to say on the topic, I just felt the need to reply since I've never seen Yerdaddy post in the Sports forum. Just one more reason to love him.
Oh, and Lance is amazing.

he should go in the annals among the greatest (american) athletes ...
what he has done, and continues to do, transcends sports ...
for all intents and purposes, he should be the modern day joe dimaggio (circa 1941) ... but with our modern, highlight-centric sports coverage and other distractions (personal entertainment/internet) his presence seems diminished ...

Just wonderful to see some of the Euros, in this case the Germans, spitting on him as he runs past.
This guy's an ironman, though. He's most certain to win this year, and he'll probably do it again next year.

It's riding a bike. C'mon now. Let's not get all riled up here. It's as much of a "sport" as NASCAR. It's all about the bike.

About the reference to the doping, a sports writer that follows biking -don't remember his name- said that the man who wrote the book accusing Armstrong of doping had a personal vendetta. I know this sounds weird but the guy who ESPN said was pretty big i think a former 3 time champ said that the syringes were probably vitamin shots. lol i noe but he said athletes use any chance to get ahead without cheating and that vitamin shots r somewhat common.

Iamnotatool - Okay, I'll make this simple so you can understand it...
DRIVING A CAR IN CIRCLES and RIDING A BIKE 2,000 MILES aren't the same thing. So resist your urge to make retarded statements.

Damn. Lance Armstrong is an incredible individual.
Fuck Lance Armstrong and the horse he rode in on. If his wife dumped him when he lost his ball, she would have been labeled a bitch. Instead she sticks with him, he gets some notoriety primarily because of the ball thing, and then he dumps her - and now he's banging Sheryl Crow. Dickweed. I hope his ball cancer comes back.
