last night I came home late from work & recieved a call from my brother in New Jersey, telling me that my dog Ralphie had been put to sleep. The vet said just from old age & being tired along w/ a short life span as w/ most domesticated Dingoes do. I had purchased Ralphie from a breeder out in the mid-west for $800 back in "92. All the family children loved him immensely. So, when I told my family that I was moving to L.I. all the kids started flipping out. My brother & I would ride our ATV`s in the winter & Waverunners in the summer w/ Ralphie on the seat. He thought it was groovy! He was also a great conversation piece w/ the females when I walked him. My brother lived across the street from a Golf Coarse , which Ralphie gladly supplied me w/ an endless supply of golf balls. I was glad that I left him w/ my brother & the kids. He protected them & kept them company. The funniest thing I`ll never forget about Ralphie is the 1st trip to the store which he went w/ my little niece Lisa & I. We went to a local Lawn & Garden Center & while in the checkout line, (my niece & Ralphie were in the shopping cart) my niece smacked some lady on the ass innocently & said, " I`m Lisa & I`m 4 yrs. old , while holding up 3 fingers. The lady replied, Hello Lisa! Are you shopping w / your friend here? My niece replied, "Yes, him`s name is Ralphie, him can`t talk, him is a Dingo!
I loved Ralphie, I`ll miss him very much... He was a good boy.

I'm sorry for you loss. He sounds like he was a great dog.

And people? "Dingo ate my baby" jokes not appropriate here.

Thank you.

Oh man, I'm bummed Ralphie had to go but I'm glad you have such great memories, because, in a very real way, the dog lives on in those memories. And frankly, if I may be bold, put to sleep once the body starts to fail, in my opinion, is the humane thing to do. It still sucks, easier said then done, no polishing that one, but...

And I've never done the 'walk the dog' thing but it is true? dog = babe magnet/conversation starter?

=

Anyway, Here's to Ralphie!

Here, here...dog stories always choke me up.

Dude, my thoughts are with you, bro...I shudder to think of the day (which can't be far off) when Barney the Beagle goes for the big nap. My sincerest condolences, sounds like Ralphie truly was Man's Best Friend.

I had to give up the dog I had as a kid after about 6 years because we were moving too much, and even though she hadn't been mine for almost ten years when she was finally put to sleep, I still bawled for a day.

Hang in there, 'dude.

Sorry fo rthe loss. As a dog owner I know how it is. I lost 2 dogs in my life, the first one I lost was the one that saved my life as a kid (stopped me from crawling down staris after I crwled up them), and the other one I lost was after 13 years of having her. I now have a dog now who's 9 and has gone through hell in his life as far as illness goes. I miss and still love my other two dogs I had as much as the one I have now

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your family member NJL. I lost my dog too about 8 years ago and it still makes me sad when I think about her. Hang in there.
