35 years old!
Yea, that makes me feel kinda old too.
Right now in LA, the Television Critics Association Tour is taking place and yesterday TV Land wowed everyone by bring out all six of the original Brady kids: Barry Williams, Maureen McCormick, Christopher Knight, Eve Plumb, Mike Lookinland and Susan Olsen together in one place.
On Sunday, Sept. 26th TV Land will air the first episode of The Brady Bunch at 8pm - 35 years to the minute after it first aired.
Whenever I come across it I still watch it. I don't even bust out laughing or find myself emotionally into it, but I'll sit there, with a smile, and watch. I guess it is more nostalgia than pure entertainment.
Just last week the one was on when Peter needed a new personality. "Porkchops and applesauce. That's swell."
At work, when a female co-worker has asked for something one too many times I'll still say "Oh, come on lady" in the same whiny voice the shopkeeper said to Mrs. Brady when the girls were trying to buy a sewing machine.
I still want a Greg Brady room like he had in Mr. Brady's den. One day, I will.

Probably one of my all-time favorite shows. I used to make my mom do my hair like Cindy's. Ive seen each episode over and over again that I can tell which one it is within seconds. And the movies that came out in the 90's were just fucking hysterical!
My favorites:
"Something suddenly came up."
"I'm President of the Davy Jones fan club"
Johnny Bravo, the Silver Platters, and any other time they sang.
"Baby Talk, baby talk. It's a wonder you can walk."

There's something very comforting about the Bunch. Say what you will about the corniness, even in the context of those times, there were some real genuine moments of a "blended" family trying to work it all out. Especially the first season.
The episode when Mrs. Brady was going to run away with Bobby is the best.
All of that said - I love the corny shit too.

This weekend is the 35th Anniversary of The Brady Bunch.
TVLand airing 48 hours of it starting this Saturday morning at 6am.
From Jackmyers.com:
The Brady Bunch (TV Land, 8 p.m. ET) TV Land presents the very first episode of "The Brady Bunch" - thirty-five years to the minute after it first aired! If that doesn't make you feel old, nothing will. At 10 p.m. ET, TV Land will telecast "Still Brady After All These Years," an original special produced by series creator Sherwood Schwartz featuring interviews with all six Brady kids and many classic clips. In between, from 8:30-10 p.m. ET, don't miss the legendary three-episode arc about the Brady family's adventures in Hawaii.
Tiki bad luck! Mike, where's Greg?

Greg Brady came to speak at my college. He was fucking hysterical and totally played up the cornyness of his act. He took questions from the crowd and the interaction was great even when some dipshit tried to ruin it with a Robert Reed AIDS question. I sat next to his sister during it and she was feeding us embarrassing questions to ask him. He did Johnny Bravo and everything.

I've listened to Barry Williams in radio and tv ionterviews, and he's totally embraced his past and has really turned it into a career these days (as opposed to those who hate it or just do conventions)
You have to admire him for it.

I watched the first episode last night and laughed at the following dialouge:
Mike: I'm so nervous for the wedding today Carol.
Carol: Why don't you take a tranquilizer?
Mike: I already did!
Carol: Why don't you take another one?
Mike: Carol, I want to be awake for our wedding!
Ahhh, 1969.

Best vacation episodes ever. But why did Mr. Brady let the schmuck who tied up his kids off? I bet they were in cahoots!!
