I was reading in the shitty Daily News a few weeks ago about what a bunch of clowns the NY Post was because they posted a story saying that Brittney Spears was drinking alcohol in a picture when it turned out she wasnt.
The DN went on and on about what bad journalism that was.
Now I'm reading a page 3 or so article about Al Sharpton's speach at the Dem Convention and it states, I paraphrase " " that Sharpton attacked Bush for his civil rights abuse .... and that Clarence Thomas, the FIRST BLACK SUPREME COURT JUSTICE, would never have been appointed if Bush was in charge in 1954 ".
I guess the DN choses not to recognize Thurgood Marshall.
Maybe if he was dating Brittney Spears or was gonna be Jennifer Lopez's 8th husband the Daily News might have gotten it right.

And even if they were, they should have reported his misquote.
Plus I think if a black " civil rights leader " ever got the first black Supreme Court justice wrong he should never ever be allowed to speak again.
I mean if there's an issue that burns my ass you can bet I wouldnt get the basic facts wrong.

Here the paragraph exactly how it was in the Daily News:

He lashed out at Bush as a civil-rights assaulter, referring to Clarence Thomas, the first black U.S. Supreme Court justice: "I suggest to you tonight that if George Bush had selected the court in '54, Clarence Thomas would have never got to law school."

So the DN screwed up. And what Sharpton meant by '54 is, that was when Brown vs. the Board of Education was deceided and schools were desegregated.

Seems its getting bad all over, especially with papers, coz I guess theyre competing with AOL news, CNN, etc.

The News networks fall over each other trying to get it first, call the election first, say who fucked who first, who's divorcing who first. Wait those last two are the same.

I'd write into their shitless editorial page but I doubt they print it or even acknowledge it.
Hopefully a lot of other people caught the error.

In all honesty I do enjoy some of their columnists.
Stanley Crouch and EJ Shipp are both really good. I mean I doubt that I see eye to eye with them on many ideological points but they do a really good job of balancing race issues. They call it like it is.

I can stand Zev Chavets because everything he writes, reagrdless of the topic, winds up a pro-Israel lovefest and no other points mean anything.

I dsilike Juan Gonzalez for the same reason. No matter what he writes about, it has to be that Puerto Ricans or anybody of Latin heritage is being wronged. He's so full of sh*t.
