I coundn't find this Anywhere online [anyone?] but its an AP release i saw in my local paper.
For the First time since the attacks, Sept. 11th falls on a Saturday. That's usually a Wedding Day.
I guess seeing 'Sept. 11, 2004' on Matchbooks, Wedding Invitations, Photo Albums, Wedding Announcements = Bad times for some. For some the numbers "9/11" mean one thing and one thing only.
=
I'm guessing pretty significant for the Wedding Industry; if you figure 52 weeks a year, thats 52 saturdays. Lets say theres 5 Weekends that are Out because of Holidays. That leaves the Saturday Wedding Couple 40-ish slots a year. With the bazillion weddings these days, I'm guessing this affects quite a few caterers, Halls, Bands, Country Clubs, Elks Lodges, etc.
This is indeed Excerpted the Headline Reads
NJ Couples Shun 9/11 as date for weddings

I think the point of that article is that they were shunning getting married at a Ramada Inn more than anything else.

I'd feel a little weird getting married on a day that so many people died but then again people die every day yknow?

I may go to Rider but I'll always be Marist Mike. Maria Sharapova is the future mother of my children.

Come on now, think of it this way: ladies, your husband will never forget your anniversary.
Life goes on, as does NASCAR -- Chevy Rock and Roll 400 is 9/11/04 at the Richmond International Raceway.
Because if they don't run on Saturday...
...the terrorists will have won.

Worse than getting married on that date is having it be your birthday.
A good friend of mine from my time at Smithsonian has that as a birthday, and when 9/11/1 happened, a bunch of us had planned to take him out to lunch, and I even ran into him as everyone was outside the museums scrambling to get out of town; "Oh great! MY birthday is a national tragedy now!" he said.
In time, as generations get more removed from it, that will change. So much of what happened to that day is the date, though, so it might be awhile.
Baltimore is moving forward, though - not only is there the comic convention that weekend, but Ani Difranco is playing that weekend.
