I'm watching this movie with Sigourney Weaver and Anthony LaPaglia. it's about a woman writer who helps a Fire Captain write eulogies for men that were lost in his ladder company. One of the main themes in the movie were about how the firemen would always hang out in their kitchen in the firehouse.

I remember, as a kid, going to my dad's firehouse and cleaning up the kitchen with my cousin, Joe Spor. His dad was my dad's Lt. and cousin. I remember Joe telling me how he wanted to be a fireman when he grew up but I always wanted to be a cop. I remember sitting there eating lunch on a sunny Saturday afternoon with Joe and being kidded by the firemen and my dad just sitting there smiling. I remember doing the dishes with my cousin while the firemen were out at a fire and we would answer the phones while they out. I remember my dad showing us how to roll up the hoses and clean the brass on the rigs .

I remember the day when my cousin,Joseph Spor, was finally declared officailly dead from Rescue 4 at the WTC.

I wanted to become a firefighter back in my teen years.. I was involved in the Elizabeth Fire Department Explorers and I had my own mask and oxygen tank. Also went to the smoke house behind ROute 22 in Union to practice being inside a burning house. What threw me off was one day they showed firemen accidents in a meeting we had and the video shocked me.. I said "No Way"..

Sorry to hear about your cousin.. being a fireman takes a lot of courage and determination.. May your cousin Rest In Peace.

My uncle Jack is a paramedic with a fire company out in Chicago.

I love him so much, I can call him "Zeke" for being a complete bumpkin, and not get my ass kicked. Right on!
