Bush Misspeak Cites U.S. Readiness to Harm U.S.
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we," Bush said.

Actually, he didn't entirely misspeak:

Addressing what the Sept. 11 commission said was one of the main failures of government -- imagination -- a senior CIA official said Wednesday the spy agency was willing to "push beyond the traditional boundaries of intelligence."

Actually, both the CIA and FBI initiated similar "think tank" sessions within months of the 9/11 attacks.

As Bush rambled, looking like a schoolboy unprepared at the front of the class (http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5633644/site/newsweek/)
It is about time people starting laughing at him!
It didn't sound like a hard question. After George W. Bush delivered a tepidly received address to a convention of minority journalists, a Native-American editor from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer asked, "What do you think tribal sovereignty means in the 21st century?" As president and a former governor, the journalist said, Bush had a "unique experience, looking at [the issue] from two perspectives." The president fumbled. "Tribal sovereignty means that-it's sovereignty," he stammered. "I mean, you're a-you're a-you've been given sovereignty and you're viewed as a sovereign entity." As Bush rambled, looking like a schoolboy unprepared at the front of the class, many of the hundreds of Asian, black, Native American and Hispanic journalists gathered before him.well, snickered.

Keith Olbermann just showed that clip on his show, but with a much better camera angle. When they cut back to the studio you could hear someone in the background cracking up, and Keith himself seemed to be struggling to hold in the laughter.
So yeah, it's not edited, the monkey really did say that.

i saw some new footage this evening and this is what he had to say:
"John Kerry is gonna raise taxes on the wealthiest people. Well you know what, those people have lawyers and accountants so you know who is gonna wind up paying, the middle class"
pretty much word for word!
and these are probably the truest words he has ever spoken and you know why? because he comes from a family in that 'wealth' category... so what did he do, he gave the wealthiest the largest tax break...
if that's not a i'n your face/kick in the teeth' to the middle class whether your republican or democrat then you really are not being honest with yourself...

"John Kerry is gonna raise taxes on the wealthiest people. Well you know what, those people have lawyers and accountants so you know who is gonna wind up paying, the middle class"
So bush's logic is that they're not gonna pay the taxes anyway, so we might as well give them a tax cut and see if it boosts the economy.
Why don't we just close off the tax shelters and loopholes instead?

Here's a portion of Bush's new stump speech:
"You know, it's just too hard to catch these dang serial killers! And once we do, they hire them big city lawyers to defend em! It ends up costing more 'an a mule and forty acres in the end! So I says we just forget bout catchin them damn serial killers!'

Not to add fire to this thread, but the scariest thing of all is that he's surging in the polls regardless of the stupid things he says...
WASHINGTON - President Bush has surged to a 13-point lead over Sen. John Kerry among likely voters, a new Gallup Poll shows. The 55%-42% match-up is the first statistically significant edge either candidate has held this year. Because the millionaires who represent us in Congress (from BOTH parties) aren't too keen to do that. You talk about rewriting the tax code and all hell breaks loose.

just read this:
Woman Disrupts Laura Bush Speech in N.J.
a few interesting clips
"The first lady continued speaking, touting her husband's record on the economy, health care"
health care? - there are more people without healthcare than when he took office. i personally have had to pay more out-of-pocket- for less benefits since he took office.
economy? - more people living in poverty, largest tax-cut for the wealthiest.
"Bush said. "It's for our country, it's for our children, our grandchildren that we do the hard work of confronting terror."
as far as i know none of the terrorist of 9/11 came from Iraq, or were even Iraqian. or any other terrorist attack...
i'm sure the Bush's are for the most part 'decent people' but it's a sorry state of affairs in this country where hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent to have bullshit shoved down the throats of the American people...
