Is it possible to remove and reinstall Internet Explorer from Windows XP?

My computer at work has been having this odd problem for the past month where I will have access to email and the internet/intranet for about 15-30 minutes and then out of nowhere my connection will go out. I have to reboot to reconnect to the network. I've tried everything I can to figure out the cause of this, and the only problem I can determine is that IE in somehow corrupted. I've done virus scans with different programs, I've used ad-aware, spyware, AVG, Norton, and Bazooka trying to figure out a solution and nothing is working.

Usually when I'm at my computer I may have MS Outlook and Internet Explorer open at the same time. With this problem usually IE will go down first and then moments later Outlook will lose its connection as well.

I've tried running the system with just Outlook open and another browser (either Firefox, or the original Netscape) and everything is fine. If I launch IE my system within minutes will lose it's connection. But if I don't run IE, the system runs fine.

So I'm curious if there's a way to remove IE from the system and reinstall it to see if that solves the problem. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, or how to remove and reinstall IE without screwing up XP?

While you're at it, don't bother re-installing it. Just download Firefox.

Sounds like a memory leak type problem.

Try this (http://www.download.com/Internet-Explorer-6-Service-Pack-1/3000-2356-10148260.html?tag=lst-0-1)

it will re-install the service pack for IE. This is like a re-install and may fix the problem.

I do not know of a way to uninstall IE. IO have had a problem like this once, and i re-installed and fixed it.

Well I resolved the problem. I took matters into my own hands and formatted the drive. Not before backing up everything on the drive. Luckily I had all the programs the company uses and I screen capped all the settings and printed them out. The only thing I kind've screwed up on was my Outlook Exchange server settings but I eventually figured that one out as well. I started this late Friday and got most of the work done, and then finished up on Monday with the rest. To finish it off I used Acronis True Image and made a image of the drive over the span of a couple of cds. Which is great because now if something goes wrong I can just format and reimage back to the way things were. I waited till all the apps and drivers were loaded before imaging it.

I kept having problem after problem with IE and had to switch to Netscape. I kept geting error messages that would force me to reboot and for some reason would never be able to fix itself after I would reinstall it and reinstall it again. it really got seriously anoying so I just deleted IE completely off of my system. It didn't screw anything up with my XP Platform and if I need to, I can still use IE through the backdoor in my Windows Folders. Seems to work just fine. Now if I could only get rid of the content advisor I will be great. I set it up to keep myself away from porn sites and blindly set up the password. Well, needless to say............the content advisor screws up my WeatherBug. Damn it all.
