I sat in the movie theatre in 1979, age 16; and back then you didnt know SHIT about Alien until you saw it onscreen. Hooked for Life. This shit hits home; I was an Alien/Giger devotee.
CGI: For Now; they're good for some stuff, like backgrounds, but big moving around fast creatures? An inexact art at best. I said above it should have stayed a Trilogy. Alien 3 [cubed, whatever] I personally keep in the series coz it follows the story line from Aliens close enough, but they used CGI Aliens, and it's SO Noticable. So I hold my nose, and call it a trilogy. Alien: Resurrection is too big a pill; Ripley fucking died at the end of 3, ok? Dont give me Clone-O-Ripley; I'm not buying it. And Resurrection?, after 3? I had high hopes. Winona? Sounded crazy enough to maybe work. Wow was I Wrongy Wrongerton.
If James Cameron only made sequels, I'd be happy. Well, at least two; Terminator 2, and what I thought was BLASPHEMY when I first heard: a SEQUEL to Alien? How the fuck are they gonna do That?! And Why? I was Not psyched.
The ARMY of Aliens in 'Aliens'. Grand Total of Seven, count 'em, 7 Alien costumes, and editing that won an Oscar [geh geh geh].
This sequel; I saw opening day, and i HATE those packed theatres. I soon forgot they were there, except for the screams.

Actually the AVP creatures looked okay. It wasn't all CGI and the CGI used wasn't distracting. This is the only good thing about the film.
The Aliens were done well. The Predators could have been better designed and preformed. Kevin Peter Hall (the Predator in both 1 and 2, who died in 1991) could actually act in the suit, these guys couldn't. But they weren't CGI

The best line out of this movie to summarize this piece of shit was: The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

that was the worst piece of crap i ever saw. all they did was talk, the 3 fights that were in the movie were cool but there's still 87 minuets of talking in the 90 min movie. Its so dam dark you cant see a thing, out of 3 predators 2 are dead in their second camera shot, some how Egyptians, Mayans, and the Cantonese worshipped the predators as gods and they brought aliens to earth? The new Riply befriends a predator and team up to fight all the aliens in the end killing the queen but the predator dies and just like predator 2 they give her a weapon and leave the planet. God its awful and the worst part is that they end it setting up the next avp. Save your money it sux

SFX were done literally last week, that's why all critic's screenings and the premier were cancelled.

The SFX actually looked good. It seemed to be worth waiting till the last minute to get them right. Wish they worked that hard on the story and directing of the actors.

I have to be honest and say I was really looking forward to this movie ever since they first paired them against each other in the comics.
But, after I started hearing what the movie was actually about, my expectations for it coming in were low.
I saw it last night and I was only disappointed with the fact that I was right and the movie was bad. There wasn't enough action and I didn't like the whole tying Predators with ancient history. This premise for it was decent. Predators as a right of passage must face off against the Aliens. They should have put them on another planet with the Space Marines investigating said planet and meeting up with both Aliens and Predators. I give this movie 1 and 1/2 stars. The only cool scene was at the end when (the Predator does a flying leap onto the Alien Queen).

So if these were teenaged Predators who were planning on fighting several Aliens. Were the Predators from Predator and Predator 2 just kids? They did seem shorter and hunting humans isn't as dangerous.
And I must have missed it but when did the "scar Predator" have time to have the alien facehugger attach itself to him? and didn't he remember that happening? The resulting Preator/Alien won't stand a chance on a ship full of Predators would it? Even if it's based on a Predator (The Alien takes on characteristics from the host, like the Dog/Cow alien from Alien3). If that's the set up for a sequel it's gonna be 5 minutes long. end spoiler.

The important question everyone has been ignoring is "Could either of them beat the Hulk?".

These Aliens and Predators did look bigger than the previous movies but I think it was the director's influence making them Super sized. They never really tied this movie in with the previous Alien or Predator films except if you include "Bishop".
