RonFez.Net Softball 2 2004 Directions and Rides

August 28, Echo Lake Park in NJ.



For people who are going 22 westbound, they will be getting off at the exit for 577 south. They will see the exit RIGHT after they pass the BOB'S store.

There will be a sign for Westfield-577 South right at the exit. Go over the bridge and then make a right at your second traffic light. They will see a sign for Echo Lake Park at that corner they are turning into. Right before they come to the exit they will pass a Friday's restaurant on their left so they know they will be getting into the right lane at that point.



For people who are coming from South NJ and taking the parkway to exit 138.

Make a left at the traffic light that sits at the end of the exit. Follow that road STRAIGHT for 7 traffic lights. At the 8th light make a left to go into the park. Again they will see the sign for Echo Lake Park on the left as they pull in. You will see designated parking on the right side as they pull into the park. I will try and post signs to they know where to park it. There are about 20-30 parking spaces so we SHOULD have enough places to park.



I hope this helps with directions. I know it seems a little more exact then the other directions have been before but I figured it makes it a lot harder to get lost when looking for landmarks.

For those people who are wondering ...if you are taking the Garden State Parkway South or Turnpike South you would be needing to get onto Route 22 West. Thought I should mention that.

Parkway south people could ALSO take Exit 138 as stated above, just take one less light then the directions.
For those train passengers you will want to go to the Westfield station, not Rahway. Take the Raritan Line. It may be named the Westfield/South Ave. station. (I am not sure as I do not take the train from there) PM me for those people who are taking the train and will need rides from the station. I will give my cell number so you can call and let us know when you have arrived.

Also for those people who are taking Route 22 EAST...here are the directions. (just in case)

From Route 22 Eastbound: Follow Route 22 Eastbound into Mountainside. Pass the Mountainside Municipal Building on the right (just past New Providence Road) and bear RIGHT towards Mountain Ave. At the Mountain Ave. stop sign proceed straight into the Echo Lake Park entrance. Follow the drive to the other end of the park. You will see the signs for the parking area.

Ok...for those people who are coming from NYC or the 5 boroughs. Take the Path train into Hoboken. Then hop onto the Raritan Line and that will take you to Westfield station. IF ANYONE IS TAKING THE TRAIN PM me and I will give you my cell number to call when you arrive at the station. We will send someone to come pick you up.

Ok G....
To get to the field from the station? I know you get onto Central and then from Central make a right onto East Broad Street then make a left onto Mountain. You will see the entrance on your right when you are on Mountain. I am not sure if it is left or right onto Central from the station.

To get TO the station, take the parkway north to exit 137. At the end of the exit make a RIGHT onto Route 28. Stay on 28. You will pass one station on your left. That one is the Cranford station, NOT Westfield. Stay on Rt. 28. The next station on your left will then be Westfield.

Just to clarify. If I were to come in from Staten Island and take the Goethals Bridge to the Jersey Tpke, I would go South to Exit 11 which is the Garden State Parkway. If I do this, am I going south or north on the parkway to get to exit 138?

Bobby...if you are coming from Queens you will most likely be taking the GWB onto the NJ Turnpike. Then follow the turnpike to Exit 14 and follow the signs for Route 22 west. Take the directions from there. They are posted up higher on the thread.
If you are coming from other then the GWB let me know.

Reef DON'T TAKE THE TURNPIKE SOUTH TO GET TO THE PARKWAY you will be going in a circle almost.....if you are coming from Staten Island, as soon as you come over the bridge get onto Route 287 North/440. Follow Route 287 to the exit for Route 1 NORTH.(It will be no more then 2-3 miles as soon as you get onto Route 287) Follow Route 1 North to get to the Parkway North. The Parkway North entrance is on the right immediately after you go under the bridge which is the parkway....


but if you do go your way...you would be getting onto the Parkway NORTH.

There really is no Post Office Address for Echo Lake Park....not a formal street address anyway. Is is in Westfield. If they Mapquest the town itsself they will be able to actually SEE Echo Lake and the park right along Rt 22 on the map itself.

If that is the bridge you would take to get to 287 then take that one. That trip up 287 will take off about 20 mins worth of travel you would be taking to go south only to have to come back up north.

I had no idea the Dog Park had a website for it. Great pull G! That should help big time. Mill Lane runs right alongside the Park and the corner of Mill Lane and the parking lot for the park is like 50 feet apart.

Justice, just so I'm clear I've assembled these directions below based on bits and pieces of different posts I just want to be sure that the info is correct. If you can check it over and let me know I'd appreciate it.

From the Verrazano Bridge
- Take the Staten Island Expressway to Exit 5 which is Route 440/Outerbridge
- Take the Outerbridge Crossing
- When you get off the bridge take Route 287 (which should be right in front of you)
- Take 287 up to Route 1 North
- Take Route 1 to the Garden State Parkway North.
- The Parkway North entrance is on the right immediately after you go under the bridge
which is the parkway.
- Take the Parkway to Exit 138

- Make a left at the traffic light that sits at the end of the exit.
- Follow that road STRAIGHT for 7 traffic lights.
- At the 8th light make a left to go into the park.
- Again they will see the sign for Echo Lake Park on the left as they pull in.

Justice, just so I'm clear I've assembled these directions below based on bits and pieces of different posts I just want to be sure that the info is correct. If you can check it over and let me know I'd appreciate it.

From the Verrazano Bridge
- Take the Staten Island Expressway to Exit 5 which is Route 440/Outerbridge
- Take the Outerbridge Crossing
- When you get off the bridge take Route 287 (which should be right in front of you)
- Take 287 up to Route 1 North
- Take Route 1 to the Garden State Parkway North.
- The Parkway North entrance is on the right immediately after you go under the bridge
which is the parkway.
- Take the Parkway to Exit 138

- Make a left at the traffic light that sits at the end of the exit.
- Follow that road STRAIGHT for 7 traffic lights.
- At the 8th light make a left to go into the park.
- Again they will see the sign for Echo Lake Park on the left as they pull in.

You got it perfectly.
And when you are on Route 1 North, as you start to approach the parkway you will see Menlo Park Mall/Pizzaria Uno/Steak & Ale on your left across the highway. About 1/4 mile before the entrance there is a traffic light. Just make sure you are in the right lane when you are at that point.
Aside from that little help, you should be fine. I will PM my cell phone # in case something comes up or ya get lost...which I doubt.
