Kids + Me = No

I am terrible with kids. I always knew it but it was completely solidified today. I went to a neighbor's house to teach a 1st grader how to use his computer and run games on it. I got $40 for it, so in the end it was worth it, cuz any opportunity for money is a good opportunity... But anyhow, this kid was fucking LOUD, HYPER, and OBNOXIOUS. I was SO uncomfortable around him and he wouldn't shut up for one second to listen. I didn't know how to communicate with him, because I am incapable of dumbing down my speech to Kid Language... So I was basically using words that he's probably never heard before. It was very hard for me to not just say "Hey kid, shut the fuck up and listen to me."

I could never work at a summer camp.


How bout the rest of you's? Anyone here hate kids as much as I do? Anyone here GREAT with kids?

My nephew(5) and niece(1) love me. I never had any younger siblings, so it took a while to get used to acting different around kids.

My nephew is good on the computer.

You're not alone. I'm 37 and plan on not having kids. Whenever I tell someone that, they say, "Oh no! You'd be a GREAT parent!" No way. Based on how I treat my pets, I'm WAY too lenient. I can barely handle the puppy.

What kills me is how people tell me I'll change my mind. Again, I'm 37. If I was going to have kids I would have had 'em by now.

there is no doubt kids aren't for everyone... i would just say to remember that you were a kid once and from what i see alot of boys are hyper and a bit loud... you may have been to but you turned into a pretty good person from what i can tell from your posts...

don't rule them out so early...

I have had trouble with kids when i was 18-22. for some reason i was never around any, so wheni did see them i had no idea what the hell to do or say. they need constant entertainment. you have to know what to do. then my cousin had some kids, and it been all good ever since. I have learned what to do to make them happy. Pick them up and throw them around, they love it.

Now back to the question...Hawk ...how old are you...do you have brothers and sisters??

I have 2 kids...they're both adults now...every kid I meet likes me...you just got to be easy going...listen to them...they like to talk and tell you stories...just nod your head and say" Yea, I know, I know"...they just want attention....Kids are great!!!!

You just have to realize that kids just want to be loved and recognized...you don';t know want this kids problem is...why did the parents have to hire you to teach the kid about the computer?...couldn't they do it.....sounds like they were putting their problems on you.....


You'll do better next time, Hawk....Give kids a break...they'll love you!!!!!

My best friend from age 11 on had 2 little sisters and a little brother, so that was pretty cool watching them grow up(the youngest was 2 the oldest was 6).

They were annoying sometimes but for the most part they were awesome, we'd have to babysit them and put them to bed, bathes, stories, etc. That was always fun, good learning experience and whatnot.

I'm definitely not ruling out whether or not I'll have kids in the future. Things can change. I'm not the same person today as I was 10 years ago, so why would I be the same person I am now 10 years in the future. I may have kids one day, I may not. But as of RIGHT NOW, I'm terrible with them.

I'm awesome with kids man, theyre so easy for me. Its just patience, you got some patience and you can go a long way with kids. Most of em are just too cute to get pissed at or whatever. All in all, kids are just awesome.

I have two nieces and they love me to death. Also, my friend's 5 year old grandson calls me "his buddy". He's even got a picture of me and him in his room. I gave him a remote controlled plane for his birthday in June because that's what he wanted according to his grandmother.

I have very little problem with kids because I am a big kid, more or less.

That's the exact same with me, except my niece is almost 4 and my nephew is not quite 2.
I do love those kids to death. I think the only kids I could like were related to me (I used to say my own but I do love my brother's kids, so i've had to change it up)

I have one younger brother and two younger sisters and I can't stand kids. I have no problem with my younger siblings, but it's IMPOSSIBLE to teach kids anything. Its one thing to play football with them, or play them in a video game, but if you're trying to teach them to use their computer, its fucking impossible. They squirm, yell and trail off. I don't know how teachers can deal with these kids.
