View Full Version : XM Anyone? O&A, R&F, just like the good ol' days!

Hey all, I'm a born and bred New Yorker, just like the rest of you, and I missed R & F a whole lot when they left NYC. Luckily for me, the military has me currently stationed in the D.C. area, so I can find my lost joy in the evenings once again. But alas, it is only temporary, as I'll be moving on once again around the end of the year, and they'll be gone, out of my life once again. I just hope, that unless they get syndicated everywhere in the U.S., that when their contract is up with Infinity, if the awesome ones feel so inclined, that they might take a page out of the Book of WOW and move to XM, to provide all of us with a legal way of listening to them, no matter where we are. I guess that I'm just hoping aloud; that's obviously a decision that Ron and Fez themselves would need to make when their contract expires, and of course, we could only expect that they would do what's best for themselves, just as any of us would.
Thanks for reading!
Well, blow me down...

Like the rest of us???
That's news to me.
[edit: having replied through the current messages area, I didn't noticed this was in the "NY" section, so, yes, this was meant for the NY eyes originally - sorry if it came across as a smart ass comment]

Hasn't this already been addressed??? (http://www.ronfez.net/messageboard/viewmessages.cfm/Forum/79/Topic/40505/page/XM___Ron___Fez.htm)
Since they just recently resigned with Infinity, the only way they will go to sat radio anytime in the near furture is if Infinity brokers a deal. Hopefully the suits will get their heads out of the collective asses, but i wouldn't hold my breath. They don't seem to be very forward thinking.
It would be the best way for locally produced material to be syndicated across the country.
Even if they do go to non-terestrial radio, however, unless there is a complete and utter fuck up, and they are no longer with Infinity don't look for a return to "the good ol' days" with O&A.
With a career as long and as varied as theirs, R&F reinvent themselves constantly. To many in DC, Baltimore and Tampa, who never knew of them at WNEW these may be "the good ol' days."
Hope you land somewhere where you can hear them - while you are still in town you should send them and e-mail and stop in and hang out with them.

I don't think he was. I wish they would talk about R&F more often.
I also wonder why they don't mention this wesite on their site in the "Our Friends" section. I haven't heard Mohr, Beuer or Brian Regan on the XM show yet (I could have missed it, just started listening last week.
I'm happy that Lil Jimmy Norton is on almost everyday. He's the best thing on the show.

[color=purple]Regan called in on 11/11, plugging his Carolines gig during the NY Comedy Festival. Vos was also in studio for much of the show, telling some of his stories about his drug addiction. I think that's the 1st time he's ever shared them on air, pretty funny stuff.

You wont hear Bruer anytime soon. He's on sirius broadcasting live opposite O&A. My brother works on the show with him.
I always thought O&A's best guest was Dice. He really came across on radio. Even when he sucked, he was a huge personality.

Yes!
Does anyone have a video clip of him on Tough Crowd? He was so funny on that show.
I loved Anthony's impression of Dice going on about the hat he got at 9/11's Ground Zero from some Fire Fighters and/or Cops

Does anyone remember how dice became a charector on the show?
O&A used to tell listeners he was now the custodian at WNEW and used to change the garbage. Then anthony would do the impression. it was great

Just a note to those who don't have XM or haven't heard the new show, next week XM is having the O&A Freeplay where they will be broadcasting the show for free to all subscribers of XM even those who haven't signed up for the High Voltage channel. So check it out.
Opie mentioned this morning that Brian Regan will be in studio, as well as other surprise guests. He eluded to Stephen Lynch as a possibility as well. Lynch rocked the last time he was on the show. They also suggested that Sully from Godsmack as well as others will be stopping in. I would imagine that Vos will be in studio as well so it should be a great week of radio.
from the XM site... (http://www.xmradio.com/programming/channel_page.jsp?ch=202)
The Opie & Anthony FREEplay
From Monday, December 6th through Sunday, December 12th, XM subscribers can hear Opie & Anthony on High Voltage at no charge. The boys are sure to have plenty of special guests and surprises all week. You won't want to miss it. Just tune your existing radio to High Voltage - XM 202 to hear this free event.
If you loved the old NEW show and haven't heard the new show yet I suggest you check it out. It is even funnier than the old show is.

In addition, even though it's already been mentioned, I think it is worth repeating that the boys were able to work out a deal with XM to have their channel streamed and it's no longer "for a limited time" as the commercials originally stated.
So those of you who want to hear O&A, and have an internet connection, but don't have the cash to buy the XM hardware can now listen online legally for the reduced monthly price of $7.99 per month.
Just a little added incentive to check it out for the month & see if it's worth making the jump. From personal experience, I couldn't be happier with the service. And with the show replaying all day I find myself listening 2-3 times just to make sure I didn't miss a thing.

I missed that yesterday at 6, right at the start of the show because I was in the shower. But I caught the replay driving home...funny shit.

They were on ther air the following day, but strictly forbidden from talking about S4S...so it was a very uncomfortable show. That (Aug 16th) was the last show.

Goddamn was that a clusterfuck show. The boys couldn't talk about anything. They were news, the phones were going crazy and they couldn't say a word. If they did you'd hear them say that Ken Stephens was flashing the cut sign, or that they were instructed to stop talking immediately. They even tried talking in code but they couldn't do that even.
Two interesting notes about that very last show if I remember correctly. Brian Regan was on that show, which as far as I know he was also on their first WNEW show, so it was fitting that he be on the last. And then if I'm not mistaken I have this memory of someone calling them about XM radio and they were trashing satellite radio in general as a void or something. It's funny that in the end though they went there and by the time they did satellite radio had made significant enhancements.

I can't remember if they were talking about it that day, but I do remember towards the end of their run how Opie would freak out whenever he had to do a live read for XM. "We're running commercials for our competition? What the F?!" Very funny, in retrospect.
And yes, Regan was on, and there was a lot of talk of "Peanut Butter & Jelly" that day. What a mess that was.

Well, They did get to talk about it on Monday. Just not the Monday they thought: It was October 4th 2004 not August 19th, 2002.
I think they spent more time talking about Howard Stern and the fact they couldn't talk about him while at WNEW.

I remember the WNEW days of OnA & RnF. I live on Long Island so I haven't heard RnF since 02'. I recently bought XM for OnA and haven't listened to terestrial radio since. However, if RnF began syndication in NYC, I would gladly listen to the po-gram. Those guys are great. OnA still mention them from time to time on their new show, about how they are still great friends of the show.

It would be uncommon, because, up to this point, Infinity has not allowed their properties to be broadcast on satellite.

I'm sure he'll feel like a big man and lock this post or have one of his "moderators" do it.
It's funny "FM Jeff" because people who raise Opie and Anthony (available for streaming @ www.xmradio.com) questions get answers with posts and reposts....i guess there is an audience here huh? If not no one would respond...wouldn't that be the case?
