This is sad because I actually like Quincy Carter. First, Dallas cutting him was a huge mistake and second, him going to the Jets is an even bigger mistake. He has the potential to be a very good QB, sitting backup to Chad (who blows by the way, I dont care what defense Jets fans have) isn't going to do anything to further his talent. This is clearly a stupid signing on both Quincy's and the Jets parts.

You obviously know football, Game. If Carter is so good, why did Parcells cut him? Oh yeah, wait, we know from previous experience that he's always been a total hardass on his players using drugs.
*cough* LT! *cough cough*
He drafted Pennington, and cut Carter ASAP, when he got a decent QB crew. Who should I think has the better football mind? GameHHH? . . . Parcells? GameHHH? . . . Parcells? Hmmmmmmmm.

I know the talk on the FAN this past week+ has been about how badly they needed a quality back-up to Chad (who is the man, by the way, and I hate the Jets), but I'm surprised Carter didn't wind up in San Fran.
Not sure if they called but Carter liked NY better, or if they had no interest. But a recovering Tim Rattay backed up by Ken Dorsey & not exactly a city that's known as a media sharktank...sounded like the perfect fit for a mediocre QB with a questionable history.

woah, woah, woah........you're defining Vinny Testaverte as a decent QB?????! And I'm the one with the poor football mind? And honestly, its no big deal, if you all like Chad, good for you. You guys are more than welcome to be entitled to your own opinions. Keep believing that that one magical day will come when Chad will get you a ring, unfortunately it's not going to happen, and sadly you'll keep dreaming it will.

I'm defining Vinny Testaverde and Drew Henson as a decent QB crew, yes. Not the best ever, but sufficient. Henson needs to get work in, and Vinny is Vinny, and will suffice in a pinch. Dallas' game is predicated on defence so it doesn't really matter. Good enough for Bill to cut Carter. And don't tell me it was because of drugs. Like I said above, he overlooked LT's problems. If Carter was so good, he would overlook his as well, considering he hasn't even been suspended by the league.
And Pennington is a top 10 QB in the NFL, give him a full season and see what you think.

Cause it's been the quartebacks that have been winning Super Bowls lately. As as New England fan, you should be the first to realize that. And Chad good enough to not loose a Super Bowl.
Any chance the Jets make Quincy a WR? It's a pretty standard move in the NFL these days.

Quincy makes sense for the Jets as a backup. I mean...you can't really bring in CFL QB players and have them play in the NFL....even if they won the "Grey Cup" or some yardage thing. Quincy Carter did QB the Cowboys into the Playoffs last year without a Running Back that could run at all and only one decent wide receiver. He can play in the NFL, was starting a year ago and has decent ability. What else do you want from a back up QB?
As for Chad Pennington and the whole QB controversy, ANY QB can win a Superbowl. See "Trent Dilfer" or "Brad Johnson". I mean, would anyone pick those guys over Pennington right now? Everyone saying that Pennington doesn't have the arm strength are the same people that said Brady couldn't win a big game either.

only one decent wide receiver
Terry Glenn, Joey Galloway, and Antonio Bryant were the best WR corp in the league...he had plenty of guys to throw to and one hell of a defense that consistently kept them in the game no matter how bad the offense played...

I don't think that's such a bad idea at all. At least give the man playing time somewhere, he doesn't deserve to sit the bench. "Slash" Carter.

Look, the Jets needed a backup QB with experience because they are scared shitless of Brooks if Pennington goes down.
They other option they have is Gannon if Oakland cuts him, and that's probably not going to happen, so they went with what they needed.
I'm excited and intrigued my McCareins. Hopefully, this won't be a MAtthew Hatchette/Curtis Conway situation.
And GameHHH, you are fucking high.

That wasn't your statement I was challening, man-chowder.
It was the whole "Pennington sucks" thing. I know YOUR QB gets whores by the dozen, makes mad money, and has two rings, but do you really need to attack OUR guy?
I mean, it's not like our QB is a Jewish Sports Legend and our RB took off on a worldwide Hashish tour.

Chad is accurate but his arm strength is 'weak' for a pro qb... He would need an offense like Montana had or a defense like the Bears had to get them a ring...

I don't buy this arm-strength thing. A lot of analysts say it, but I don't get it. I've seen Chad accurately hit a few 50+ yard bombs in preseason.

not that i watch much football but i recall seeing a few weak throws, mostly on the 'out routes' between 10 and 20 yards...
