Will John Kerry be one of the worst presidents ever? We don't know. But if he is, we can vote him out in 2008.

If he's close to being as bad as you claim Bush is, or maybe even worse, can I belittle and insult the SHIT out of everyone who voted for him?
Personally I think that Bush is going to win (not by much, and frankly I don't care who wins because I dislike both of them, Kerry a little more than Bush) because of the swing voters that will be awe-struck when he brings out Osama in november.

I just noticed the caveat to a bunch of those estimations is Kerry getting a lot of those states..."without Nader."
I'm even more determined to vote for the goon with the gamey eye and the old suit in Novemeber.

What are you talking about, both candidates are still neck in neck. I will bet that this election turns out the same as every other election regarding states. States are going to vote the way they've always voted and it's only going to come down to a few, like Florida last election (which Bush has by the balls).

This from the electoral-vote.com site:
Strong Kerry (109)
Weak Kerry (96)
Barely Kerry (75)
Exactly tied (20)
Barely Bush (56)
Weak Bush (40)
Strong Bush (142)
So while Kerry has 42 more than Bush, Bush has much more solid Bush states that he's not going to lose anytime soon. There's also alot of weak and barely Kerry states which can change with that release of Osama. And Bush already has your beloved Ohio as a weak state.

Actually, the more I think about, the more I seriously want to vote for Nader again.
A year ago I never would have DREAMED of doing such a thing. Of course, a year ago I had hope the Democrats had learned their lesson from the 2000. Man, how wrong I was.
The only thing I truly hate conservatives over is how they've made the term "liberal" into something bad...like it's something Democratic politicians need to shy away from as much as possible. FUCK THAT. I've been a Democratic supporter since I've been aware of politics because I had always learned about how they HAD been a liberal progressive party throughout most of the 20th century. What the fuck happened?
During the Reagan years, the Democrats themselves bought into the "liberal=evil" hype more than anyone else! They spent the 80's drifting right into the middle, making themselves as "safe" and undynamic as possible. Clinton just epitomized and solidified that ideal, and the party has been meandering along pathetically ever since.
So STUPIDLY I thought the unusal amount of attention Nader got in 2000 (Even before the election) might finally kickstart the Democrats to get of their asses and start fucking acting like THEMSELVES for the first time in 20+ years. Instead, the go with John Kerry, who somehow manages to be even more centerist, timid and wish-washy than Clinton.
WAY TO LEARN FUCKING NOTHING, ASSFACES.
Fuckin' donkeys.

You got that shit switched around. The whole post was about Fox News being "fair and balanced" and actually being slanted to the right. Did you read it?
And John Kerry has as much personality as this guy from the Enzyte commercial:

Nope.
I wrote about my beef with Fox News' BLATANT bias, contrasted with CNN's Leftist LEANINGS. (http://www.ronfez.net/messageboard/viewmessages.cfm/Forum/87/Topic/40704/page/My_beef_with_Fox_News_.htm)
I do think CNN swerves to the left a lot these days. Not nearly to the degree Fox blatantly panders to the right, but it's still there. But I don't see any evidence of some pervasive "liberal basis" throughout the media. I, unlike a lot of people, can tell the difference between news reporting and editorializing without lumping them together.

CNN is as leftist as Bill Clinton.
Not these days.
The ironic thing is that prior to Fox News, they WERE about as neutral as a news network we've ever seen. Very few "personailty-driven" shows (Which Fox makes its bread and butter) outside of Larry King or "Crossfire."
Once Fox showed up to "balance" CNN's miniscule "bias," CNN tacked on all kinds of personality-driven shows (Aaron Brown, Anderson Cooper, etc.) that DO typically betray a "Leftist" swing. Is it as blatant and ass-tounging as Fox's? Of course not. But it IS there. CNN shot a lot of their integrity in the foot to compete with Fox.

Google Search for: "Presidential Poll"
First site:
Here. (http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Presidential_Tracking_Poll.htm)
First paragraph. FIRST SENTENCE:
Wednesday August 25, 2004--For the fourth time in the last five days, Senator John Kerry and President George W. Bush are tied with each man attracting 47% of the vote. The Tracking Poll is updated daily by noon Eastern.
Yeah, Kerry is just downright SLAUGHTERING Bush.

As I read on I found this rather interesting.
Fifth paragraph. First sentence:
Also, 45% of voters nationally say Bush is more honest and trustworthy than Kerry. Thirty-nine percent (39%) take the opposite view.

I disagree. Real, true leftist views are nowhere to be found....not on CNN, nowhere except Air America. True rightists have Fox, all of talk radio, and the presidency.....
Nowhere have I said CNN represents "true leftist" views.
I've specifically used terms like "lean toward the left," because that's how I see it. It's not full-on, but it's there.
I've also blatantly contrasted the extreme of Fox's bias with the moderation of CNN's "drifting."

You know what is going to help Bush? If the anti-Bush protesters cause havoc next week. It will be all over the news and a lot of folks will see them not only as anti-Bush but pro-Kerry, but is not necessarily true.
If they cause major problems, they'll just be helping the GOP.
I hope Kerry wins, just because the Bush administration is harming our country with wounds that will be felt for generations. The quicker we start healing those wounds, the better off for our country.

And I don't think kerry can win, as you all said the swing voters will do just that when Osama is brought up. And who can say that kerry is more honest and trustworthy then bush? As mojo said kerry wants people to vote under that cloud of ignoracne, it is dangerous and very scary. Another scary thought is all the dumb women who will vote for him because Edwards is cute and nice or someshit. I am also pondering voting for nader, Kerry would kill the country, bush isn't that great but still a hell of a lot better than kerry. But nader wants to legalize pot...choices choices...

can we get back to the original issue? why would john kerry be better than bush?
I hope Kerry wins, just because the Bush administration is harming our country with wounds that will be felt for generations.
Furtherman is exactly right. Please allow me to flesh out some of the details on just one point.
Domestic Policy: Bush claims it is right to cut taxes because "it's not the government's money - it's your money." While this is technically true it ignores the full picture. It is also true that the national debt is all of our debt. By cutting taxes so dramatically at the top of the scale without cutting (and actually increasing) spending he is running up a credit card bill that will have to be paid after he's buried on his beloved ranch. The demographics of this country are such that when the baby boomers retire the gov't. will be taking not only the Social Security and Medicare taxes that working people pay specifically for the program but regular taxes as well to send the checks on the 3rd of the month. So, starting in about five years, and really kicking in 15 yrs., from now all our tax money will be going to SS & Medicare and interest on the national debt. Think we can drop SS? Go try to explain that to your Grandma or, soon, your parents. To add salt to the wounds, Bush is trying to get money from wealth (interest, capital gains, etc.) be made essentially free from taxes, so that all taxes come from wages (& maybe sales taxes). If he gets re-elected with a Republican Congress, he'll have a good chance of making that happen.
Hey, if you're already very rich this is a good thing. So if you lie awake at night worrying if Paris Hilton is going to be alright, then by all means vote for W.

I don't know how many Democrats I've heard bemoan Nader "taking" the 2000 election without them even THINKING of recognizing all of the faults Gore had going for him...like I'm just supposed to up and swallow whatever he dishes out just because the party opted to take the lazy choice in propping him up as a candidate.

Bush and Kerry are tied in most poles. With the Republican convention on the way, and Swiftvets taking their toll on Kerry, the only direction Bush's numbers can go is up. Not by much, maybe 2-5 points, but enough to take and hold the lead for a while.
Here's my Message Board Psychic: Bush will win, not in a landslide, but strongly after Sadam's WMDs hidden in Syria are turned over to the US or UN, and Libya releases it's documentation of the nuclear terror ring it was involved in with Iraq and North Korea. I found this information from Democrat former State Department member John Loftas, on the John Bachelor radio show. His comment on Bush and Iraqi WMD's, "Hey, even a broken watch is right two times a day."
<img src="http://publish.hometown.aol.com/theseatbelts84/images/cb18.gif" >
But you can't prove to me that Kerry would be any better.
That would be an impossible thing to "prove."
I'm sick of hearing that Kerry stands for nothing. I'll tell you why I'll be voting for him. He's advanced the first serious health care proposal in years. It certianly light years ahead of the joke "Medical Savings Accounts" that Bush is proposing, a plan so laughable it betrays the 3 seconds they probably spent putting it together. Yeah, people without health insurance are people who have lots of extra money to save!
He's at least making an attempt to stop outsourcing. I doubt there's much he or any President can do to stop it, but kerry will at least say we value companies that create jobs here, and will stop us from helping companies outsource. He will at least put our policies in line with our priorities.
Kerry has said that reducing the deficit is a priority. Can you say the same about Bush? He has rasied spending, even outside of homeland security and defense, passed huge tax cuts, and STILL is considering MORE tax cuts.
He's making efforts to make college more affordable through tax cuts and aid to schools who keep tuition down. This is one area where Bush DID affect me personally. When I was going to college, all of a sudden one year my aid plummetted, and I had to take literally twice as many loans. My grades and economic situation did not change. I was told the grants I were receiving were cut. I was lucky I was able to get those loans or my college career was over. Thanks Georgie.
The environment. I don't even have to say anything else, do I?
The Supreme Court. I do not want Geroge Bush appointing Supreme Court justices. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
National Defense. I am confused. Would Kerry have gone to Iraq if he were President? I think he wouldn't have, but, admittedly, that isn't based on anything he said. His ambiguity here infuriates me. However, I question Bush's judgement and, more importantly, his competence. I trust him to win wars, and then I expect him to fuck it up afterwards. He's done it twice already, and I think we're in more danger today because of it. So, on this issue, I have to choose between an incomptent and a minor mystery. However, I don't doubt that Kerry has the experience to keep this country safe. I'm sure that he would know what he is doing. (Boy, that's a great complement, isn't it?)
For me, it's just a choice. Who is the best guy to be President. I obviously don't think Bush is that. Nader is a joke. I wouldn't trust him to run a country. Kerry wasn't my first choice, but he's the best one, IMO.

How?
Kerry has said that reducing the deficit is a priority.
Meaning what? He's going to look at it before he goes to bed? Does he plan to DO anything about it?
The environment. I don't even have to say anything else, do I?
Yeah, actually you do. Between 1992 and 2000 we supposedly had the most environmentally-friendly presidents since Teddy Roosevelt, and ultimately they did the bare minimum to fill that role. Gore was supposed to be the "ultimate envinronmental crusader," and that turned out to be a joke. Basically, Clinton and Gore turned out to be slightly better for the environment than Bush...but just barely. Kerry's gonna have to show what he's got on this, and if he assumes it's just some pony he can ride in on, fuck him up his arrogant ass.
Kerry's never had to convince me he STANDS for anything. ALL of these guys say they "stand" for shit left and right. My problem is with this fucking "plan for America" he keeps talking about, yet he won't clue us in as to most of the specifics. Yeah, I AM holding him to a higher standard. I'm a disillusioned Democrat...you gotta work for my vote, bitch!

So, what, that excuses him from actually explaining anything to us? I've read the book, and still have no answer as to why he's seemingly afraid to bring up the majority of the points in it when he speaks. Therefore, I have zero faith in him actually doing any of that since seemingly he can't find the stones to back up his own book on his speaking stops.

Kerry says he will close the loophole that says companies that open plants overseas can postpone paying taxes for 10 years, And then he is going to take the money he gets from that and give tax breaks to companies that create jobs here.

If he had a stronger personality, and some good ol' fashioned gumption, I'd have some more confidence.
Yeah, I readily admit I don't like the guy. Even when he says something that gets me listening, there's just not much about him and his political history that indicates he can really get much done.
Not that he's necessarily a bad president...he strikes me as a caretaker president, when that's the absolute last thing we need right now, even less so than Bush.

Kerry hasn't even hinted as to how he'll tend to the pooch's ruined anus.
I don't know about you but I have to actually try to find out where a candidate stands on issues and what they plan to do. That's not because the candidate isn't trying to get his message out there, but because the press is serving the public the most combative and divisive rhetoric and focusing on the most titilating campaign news stories like Swift Boat Liars for Truth. I'm guilty of focussing on them myself, because I'm aware of the power those subjects have over the public minds, and thus the outcome of the elections themselves.
But that doesn't mean the information isn't there. Read what's on his website. His speeches contain outlines of specific proposals and highlight subjests that he's saying are his priorities. Bush has the same thing. Maybe it's all bullshit, but it's politics. It's proffessional bullshit. But there's no excuse for saying he isn't either of these guys isn't getting their message to you if you aren't trying to recieve it. And I'm just as guilty. I hate political speeches. I have just a vague idea of what Kerry's domestic agenda would be. But I haven't looked. I've been focussed on the uproar over the Swift Boat clowns, and studying what Kerry's foreign policy will look like.
If you want an idea of what his foreign policy ideas are: <a href="http://www.cfr.org/campaign2004/bio.php?can=Kerry" target="_blank">Council on Foreign Relations - Kerry's Major Foreign Policy Statements</a>. If you want Bush's or Nader's click on their name under "Other Candidates". Or:

It's not that I'm trying to NOT receive his message...I'm just waiting to see if he tries to get it across in his speaking stops.
Look, I'll read through the links, but why is he barely even touching all of that stuff in ANY of his speeches? I'm probably being picky, but it just strikes me HE doesn't have the confidence in his own plans if he's not selling them as much as possible, as loudly as possible.
What kind of excuse is, "oh, it's in my book. Oh, it's on my website." THIS is how lazy the modern politician has gotten? No, I want HIM selling it, even if it is bullshit. But he's not.
And yes, he DOES have to make more of an effort than Bush, since he's the "novice" trying to get into the office.

Speeches are stupid. Welcome to America. What can I say? Bush got elected with what qualifications to be the leader of the free world? And his speeches were as inane and pandering as every other political speech delivered in this country since Kennedy. Speeches are television news. Titilating moments to sell you soap.
I found this speech only because it was written about in another article. <a href="http://www.cfr.org/campaign2004/bio.php?can=Kerry" target="_blank">Remarks at Westminster College - April 30, 2004
</a>, where he outlines what he saw, at the time, what needs to be done differently in Iraq. Nobody knows what the conditions will be like in Iraq in January, so there's not going to be much specific plans coming from either candidate. They'll try to differentiate themselves from each other, but nobody wants to make a prediction or a committment today that will be used against them if conditions change after January, (see "nation-building" comments by Bush in the 2000 campaign).
Also, look at Kerry's foreign policy team and see what they've done and written in the past.

Yes, I think a major party candidate does need to make some effort to break the mold. Yes, I'm holding Kerry to a higher standard since he's from "my side." I don't want to just roll over simply because he's pulling the same stuff as the other guy, but he;s symbolized by a different mascot.

Short answer - When you're already in a hole, if you ever want to get out, stop digging .
Except in this case, Kerry would probally throw a grenade in the hole like he did in nam and blow us all up then go running and crying like nancy kerrigan.

Polls mean nothing to me, and here's why.
Going into the 2000 election, Gore was supposed to wipe the floor with Bush. It was quite literally going to be a slam dunk.
Why?
Because all the polls said so.
Considering how tight the polls are going into this election, I don't know what to expect.

Couple quotes I heard recently that I liked:
"Are the people of Ohio going to rehire a man who cost them 230,000 jobs?"
---Sen. John Edwards, about a week and a half ago.
"The one thing we can say about George W. Bush is that we will be forever in his debt."

Emanuel, you'll recall, is the man who said about Bush's "Mission Accomplished" banner,

TIME Poll: Among likely voters, 52% would vote for President George Bush, while 41% would vote for John Kerry and 3% would vote for Ralph Nader
Not that I put any faith in polls, but just to illustrate how none of this stuff really means much of anything.
