usually when i am down the shire i end up getting bit by green heads- it was no different this past week
so last night i was at an outside party and at night i ended up with about 30 bug bites all over my legs and feet and some near my greenhead bits
so i tried alcohol and witch hazel to sub side the itching and pain - works for about 10min
but now as i want to go to sleep my legs and feet are in agony and all my bites are inflamed and hot
about 2 hrs ago i but neosporum on my legs(basically all over) hoping it would help
i just tried soaking my feet in hot/ warm water in the tub
does anyone have any suggestions! they hurt and itch and are irritating and i am afraid that i may scratch one open and i end up getting an infection
should i go to the doctors or is there something i can do?

got stung by a wasp a couple weeks back and sprayed this on shortly afterwards, it did a nice job making the pain go away!

I'm not a doctor but since I don't think you'll get an appointment at 1:00 AM here's some advice.
Benadryl takes the edge off (internally). Externally try dabbing on some ammonia. Once that stops stinging apply some hydrocortisone cream. I had poison ivy recently and this stuff helped a lot.
Hopefully there is an all night drug store near you where you can load up. Good luck.

when did you become a hobbit?
no seriously, go to CVS and find anything topical with max levels of diphenhydramine HCL (antihistamine, eg in benadryl gel/tabs), zinc acetate (dries it out if they're oozing), and benzethonium chlordie (topical analgesic is make them not hurt). I don't know if benadryl gel has all three but it works ok (ie it doens't work but you trick yourself into thinking it does), as does calagel clear. You can also try maximum strength afterbite (in a black tube, not the white one) which is a sort of ammonia gel. But really, you're sol... nothing can really help all that much... swimming in a pool or a really hot bath could help alleviate though, or ice cubes... anything to stimulate your nerve endings besides the bites themselves.

Start with aspirin, and chew up a coupla Tums to go with it.
Then go with the 10% hydrocortizone cream.
Then pop a Benadryl, and a coupla more Tums.
Chase it with a glass of water.
If that doesn't work, think of our boys and girls in Iraq who don't have it as good as you and gotta fight off fleas as big as quarters.

Ever been bit by chiggers?
we rented a rowboat in RedBank to go crabbing and were surrounded by hundreds of them once we got out on the water. 95% of their physical makeup must be teeth and a wee 5% body...
after a while the pain turned to delirium and we couldn't stop laughing at each other getting bit...
good times

When I was in North Carolina I got bit up by them so bad. The thing was though that you couldn't even feel them at the time. Days later though I had welts ALL over my legs. I scratched them till they damn near bled. I still have scars from just the bites. THat's how nasty they are.

Actually, it was the green flies for us. We took the baby and the doggie out to Island Beach State Park for a swim(about 5 years ago).
We packed up beach chairs, umbrella, lunch, beer, etc for a nice day of fun and frolic in the surf.
As we worked our way toward the beach, we got a couple of bites. By the time we got to a nice spot, the fuckin' things were literally swarming. Especially the dog's eyes and ears.
Packed up in less than 30 seconds, got the hell out of there. The wife raised hell with the attendant, and we got our money back. Then went to Lavalette (on the bay side) and spent a nice afternoon exposing Sean to his first waves, playing catch the stick with the dog, and drinking luke-warm beer. Yeah, Good times.
So the moral is, if when entering IBSP, and the sign says slight chance of green flies, turn around and go somewhere else.

Actually, it was the green flies for us
Met a bunch of them when we rented a boat in Barnegat Bay to go crabbing... my buddy who had the shorts on was trying to steer the boat as 5 or 6 of them began attacking his legs... it was the funniest thing, the boat was going all over the place. Them flies will also hang on the outside of the boat til you get out to your crabbing spot and then start attacking. Once in awhile we'll get one at our pool and if my daughters find out they are in the house real fast. They sit on your head and take a bite and will not fly off even if you go under water...

A bit off-topic...
If you go to the piers on the bayside of Seaside Heights ( take Grant to the bay) there is some really good Crabbin'. Go to the butcher and buy chicken necks, hook those badboys to the bottom of your cage and LOOKOUT!!
Also, Shelter Cove is excellent (north on Fisher Blvd)
I love to catch 'em, and hate to eat 'em!!
