Not having the advantage of being there, it looked like all the venues were fully completed.
There were a few memorable moments and unexpected surprises, like the US medals in fencing and rowing, and a few disappointments, like the US boxing team and the US men's baseball and soccer teams not even qualifying.
NBC prime time coverage was lame as always, jumping back and forth between competition highlights. Part of the problem was probably the fact that I knew most of the results before I tuned in. I liked watching the Olympics the most when I was able to stay up late or get a day off and watch some of the lesser covered sports, like table tennis, badminton and taekwando on Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC and Telemundo. I didn't get to see as much archery, shooting, discus and hammer throw as I had hoped.
In the end, with the exception of the few surprises here and there, everyone delivered as promised.

Dunno. I didn't watch any of the Olympics this year. I don't know why. I just wasn't very interested in these.

All my watching was at work and i enjoyed what i saw. I always keep in mind the years of effort that most of the athletes put in and having the courage to go out and compete on what can be considered the 'biggest stage' in sports. That in itself is deserving of praise and respect. I think the olympics brings the world a 'little closer' together too...
plus you got to see nice hineys at the woman's beach volleyball... not much boobies but they can always be added later...

I enjoyed the Olypics this year. I watch almost every minute and they have kept my attention for the most part. Some of the lame stuff like the equestrian (shut up alkey) and the marathons had me looking for something else to watch, but for the most part I enjoyed watching. Especially the womens beach vollyball....with my pants down. :_

I used to love the Olympics, but this year could not have cared less........but I agree with PanterA, womens beach vollyball = "spankerific T.V." (more gooder then "must see t.v.")
I shucked it, and I shucked it, and I shucked it, i'm quite the mother shucker

Of the very few events I actually did see, the coverage seemed to be pretty good. But I really wasnt interested enough to watch too much.

Personally, I'm a kayaking fan and I was only able to see the early stages. They always seemed to put it on at the most inconvenient time.

NBC spent a BILLION on these Olympics and they still managed to make money. That amazes me more than anything because no one I know watched the damn thing.

What really pissed me off was the fact that they knocked off latenight programming for this BS for TWO WEEKS. At first I would watch the overnight replays but it just got so boring I couldn't watch TV for a week (that's right, I had to keep the TV off because I was so tramatized).
