What is the best DSL service in North Jersey for the money?
ÿ
Also, what are some options regarding prices and plans for different providers?
ÿ
Any help would be appreciated!

The problem with DSL is that the speeds aren't consistant, my mom had it at the school she used to work at and it was and OK speed (noticably faster than dialup), but my cousin (who has a store not far from my mom's old school, maybe no more than a half-mile), got it in his office and said that he had almost no better speed than with dialup.

I'd honestly go with cable, because unless you live next to the phone company, you won't see a huge difference in performance over a dialup connection.

The only advantage DSL has is consistant speeds and always being online. Cable is faster and has the advantages of DSL. The only downside is its more expensive, however its worth the extra money (Installation can also be viewed as a downside however a lot of companies give free installation and free modems anyway).

I tried Verizon DSL, I tried it for 5 minutes and got rid of it. The downloads were way too slow. I have Optimum on line, yes it is expensive but well worth it.

I have Verizon DSL here in Western / North Jersey and love it. Unlimited bandwidth, 1.5mbit down, 512 up, constant speed, AWESOME newsgroup support, decent price (about 25 a month), 6+ email addresses, 10 megs personal web space, MSN Premium access.

Unless you download a whole crap load of stuff what do you need a 3 mbit cable connection for? It would be nice but its not worth the extra money. 1.5 is fast enough and is a good bargin for the money.

I have no complaints.

hey some of my porn downloads are 400MB .avi files! I need that stuff ASAP!

But hey if it works for you; coolness and yer right, unless youre d/l-ing mega files, its fast enough, surely compared to dial-up.

I remember downloading a jpeg file when youd see the first line, and then 10 seconds later the second line, and youd go answer the phone and come back and the pic was about halfway downloaded...
