God, they were awful!
I always hated when a long song was playing and all of a sudden it faded..then click!..it continued on the next track. I had so many of the damn things, and they took up so much space. I will never forget the pink ones, which were made by Atlantic Records. I remember: Zep, Bad Company, even Sam and Dave(featured in "The Blues Brothers").
Hell, I even had "The Sex Pistols" and "The B-52's" on 8 track. Thank God we graduated to audio cassette.
Thank God for "scamming" Columbia House!

I truly had some crummy 8-tracks:

Shaun Cassidy's 1st record
Shaun Cassidy's Born Late
Journey's Escape
Styx Paradise Theatre
and some Hall and Oates LP

I did have Outlandos D'Amour and Zenyatta Mondatta by the Police so that makes up for something!

I still have an 8 track player. I don't know if it works since I don't have any tapes. The one thing I hated most was the 2 minutes of silence at the end of track 4 to make up for the other tracks that were longer.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGHGHHG!! You try to grow up to the soundtrack to Oklahoma.

Try growing up to the sounds of Elvis Presley and Doo-Wop (Mom) and Hank Williams (Dad). Throw in some Sinatra and classical (Grandparents) and some Top 40 (older sister).

What you get is the confused, music loving mess you see standing before you today.

I bow to your superior Musical Mess GVAC! HA!

Actually, it's cool to hear a lot of differnt music. But those production numbers from Oklahoma can drive an 8 year old to drink!

I guess you might have been frustruated as a kid, but all that differnt music must have had a lot of poitive musical influence on you, right? At least there was some REAL musicians in that list you listed. I do sympathize with you on the Top 40 bullshit though.

EVERYBODY IN THE NYC AREA! PUT YOUR RADIO ON 102.7 AND BREAK OFF THE DIAL!!!

My first 8-track was Led Zeppelin's 4th album, the one with Stairway to Heaven on it.

I had the Panasonic Bright Yellow 8-track player in the shape of a dynamite plunger. That thing was so cool.

I just found a case full of 8 tracks and two fully functioning players. One of the player is a Craig car player with a home adapter and then an integrated am-fm radio and 8 track player. OHHHHHHH what memories.
