Review: Paparazzi http://www.browntownjohnny.com/index.php
Hollywood is the land of dreams, and nightmares for a 'flavor of the month' actor named Bo Laramie. The action star has a wife and boy and now is the target of a gang of masterful tabloid terrorists. "Paparazzi" is produced by Mel Gibson (cameo alert) and directed by his hairdresser Paul Abascal, and it also is a fairly entertaining domestic thriller even though it lapses in common sense and it can get quite dumb at times.
The script by newcomer Forrest Smith shows a solid look at the trash tabloid business and how they get around the stars and make great money at it. The main villain, Rex Harper is played by Tom Sizemore (a man who is always in the tabloids) and Harper is a true scumbag. He is a leech that thinks its OK to fuck with anyone he wants because he is a 'photo-journalist'. This is a 'B' movie and it is not that original, as soon as Dennis Farina shows up as a rumpled police inspector to get to the bottom of the death of one of the brute photographers, I was now watching an episode of "Columbo" (it is a homage, and it is a good one). The star of this movie is Cole Hauser (son of Wings Hauser) and he is very good as the hothead nice guy Bo, Robin Tunney is his loyal wife Abbie.
There are a shitload of guest cameos (Vince Vaughn, Mel Gibson, Matthew McConaughey) and look for Chris Rock as the pizza boy (I'm not bullshitting, and it is nauseating to watch). Revenge thrillers like these are a dime a dozen, but at least this is watchable. Good late night cable catch but wait for the rental.
is it OK (http://www.browntownjohnny.com/index.php)
