Some time ago I was telling my mother about a meal I had at a restaurant, including of course the dessert. Well, she was very concerned about my dietary habits, and she observed that nobody orders dessert anymore - it's old fashioned. I thought that was kind of funny - it made me think of Abbott & Costello eating pie or something.

And then I remembered what Ron & Fez used to say all the time (and maybe they still do): dessert is part of the meal!

Where do you stand on this issue? I'm going to say part of the meal.

Part of the meal, but I'm willing to give dinner a little time to digest before partaking.

I never really eat desert, but it is defiantly part of the meal. If you were having people over for dinner, you need to pick up something for desert, it could be healthy like fruit, or something like Pie. It is a must either way.

Depends on if I'm hungry. If I am, I'll always have some dessert so I would consider it part of the meal.

I never have dessert, and when I go out to eat and Im with someone, and they order something after we ate, I look at them like they have 3 heads or something. I will often times have coffee after we leave the resturant, but I never buy it in the resturant. I usually go to Dunkin Donuts afterward. I am always conscious of other people who might be waiting for a table and I am not the kind of person who likes to linger unnessarily in a resturant. To me, Im there to eat and get my ass outta there. You people who sit there yacking away are the reason why the rest of us have to scarf down our food and go. And why pay $6 for a slice of pie and $2 for a thimblefull of coffee when you can go to Dunkin Donuts and get a big cup and 2 donuts for like $4 total? Always seemed a waste to me.

Because when I go out and eat, I wanna have some nice food for a change and not the same old crap.

Sorry, I had a bad experience in a resturant the night before and was waiting there with Reefdweller watching people eat for 45 mins while we were starvin!

Also, to me, I prefer fruit to cake and ice cream, Id rather have some nice apples or banana or any fresh fruit. I didnt mean to come off as crass as I did, sowwy!

At least you 2 had enough time to hold hands and make small talk. Maybe even slip into the stall for a quick one

I could understand thinking like that if you're at a McDonald's, but when you go out to dinner you're also paying for the ambience. Take some time to relax.

That being said, I hardly ever order dessert.

I've grown up in a large German family, and dessert is definitely part of the meal. If you don't have any, the meal just doesn't feel complete.

Part of the meal, but I'm willing to give dinner a little time to digest before partaking.

Yeah thats me. If I go to a place with tasty looking stuff, I get it to go; coz I know if i'm eating a good meal, I will be starvin later on that night, and there it is baby, big slab o' cherry cheesecake or something.

Which reminds me, hows clinton recuperating?

I don't know how to say 13-tuple. Otherwise, I'd make a comment on Mike's multi-posts.

I rarely if ever have dessert. Definitely never if I'm hanging out with the guys or my brother. Though on rare occaisions me and Amy have had dessert, though it's rare. Generally we stay away from dessert. I will once in a while get coffee like my brother does at Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks. But I almost never get it in the restaurant unless it's for a family event.
