This poor girl drank herself to death in Colorado (http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/09/08/fraternity.death.ap/index.html)

But here's the weird part of the post:

Spady was an honor student, cheerleading captain, homecoming queen and president of her class in Beatrice, a town of about 13,000 in southeastern Nebraska.

"This just doesn't seem like her at all," Tatro said. "Sam, she was a smart girl. If you knew her at all through high school, she wasn't getting in trouble. She wasn't out doing stupid things."

The honor students, cheerleading captain, homecoming queens, and class presidents in my high school were the biggest alcoholics of them all.

Sad, but isn't that the story you always get when this happens. It was so out of character for these kids.

College students are going to party, and one as popular as her - definitely partied. Shit happens, although I'd think there may have been some internal injuries from the car accident she was in.

I hate when people try and say how out of charector this is. these are the parents who have no idea what the hell their kids do after they leave at night. they think their kids are angels, when they are probably doing E in some club somewhere.

Just ebcause you get good grades does not make you a good person. I am proof of that. I always did well in school, president of student council I was basically an animal in college. drinking all the time, always on the lookout for chicks, partying way to much and out way to late, bar fights. stupid shit. but at least my parents were never dumb enough to say "he would never do that". if someone ever told my mom a bad story about me, she would say "i can believe it" then ask me if it were true.

some parents choose to lead a jaded life.

Actually, the one saying it was out of character was some 23 year old who went to high school with her. Though, considering she was 19, I can't imagine he went to high school with her for very long.

And, yeah, I'd have hit that.

It's unfortunate, but it is believed in order to be popular, and remain popular, you have to go with what your friends (the "crowd") does. Like excessive drinking. And driving while still drunk. Lost a couple of brothers this way. It really sucks that this type of activity is so accepted, that even death of someone that you care about will not, or does not, make you see the damage that you could be doing to yourself.

Some say that it takes a strong will to go against what your friends do.

I think it just takes common sense.

Again, just my two cents......

It really is crazy how many people drink and drive on a weekly basis. I, personally, will not have more than 1 drink in a night and drive. I have driven drunk before, and woken up the next day thanking god I made it home OK.

After a very scary incident, i promised myself no more than 1 drink and get in a car again. It has been over 3 years since I have said this, and I have stuck to it.

They just needed another angel up there. And it seems they got a pretty one.

I used to party in White Plains and live in Ridgefield Park NJ. On a saturday night at the bar we all (30 people or so) would hit the same bar, and get plastered. Keep in mind I'd be periodically puffing on bowls all night. I'd do 12-15 shots of Absolute Citron, have a few beers just to keep the mouth wet then drive back to RP from WP (30-45 minutes, going over the GWB) and smoke 2 blunts to the head on the ride. Made it home every time.

Not bragging. Just stating facts.

I bet this girl wasn't as fucked up on her last drive as I was on 80% of those long drunken stoned drives.

It sucks, but its life.

Fuckin' A, Funk.

I could write a book. Nothing like having a couple of kids to wake your dumb ass up!! And if my boys do half of the stupid shit I pulled, they will probably be locked up. There is no more "Give me the beer, and drive your ass straight home." Now you do get locked up!

I'm sure it wasn't out of character at all for her to party like that. There's tons of gals like that back in my home town. Valedictorian by day, coke whore by night.

I was reading the New York Post and they had an article on this girl in it. In the article they refer to this girl as "Samantha "Sam Bam" Spady". Now not to dishonor her as she is dead and also because I have never met her, but who was the last "Good Girl" you knew and referred to as "Sam Bam"?

I'll join in on this one. At 41 its not a brag, it's scary to look back and remember the shit I did drunk, and I'll never judge another.

Appreciate the sentiment, my friend. My thanks to you and all for accepting me as "one of the crowd"!!!

If they were smart, they would have followed her to the accident and fucked her while she was still warm. Her blood could make lubrication if she's dead. Hell, you can even get anal off a dead bitch!
