unable to update windows

the computer downstair is unable to update windows and ie is kind of fucked up. i've run everything from adaware to bazooka, and come up with nothing.

when you try to log on to hotmail, nothing. but you can through netscape.

now, i've unistalled, reinstalled ie, and dl the updates from another comp but they don't take.

also, when checking for updates, an activex problem occurs.

the problem started after removing startpage.

I'd suggest doing a Windows Update before you do even attempt Anything else.

<p>yet again i'm lost and am looking for my knowledgable folks.&nbsp; todays problem:</p><p>can update 03 office suite pro on xp pro.&nbsp; need sp2, but installation shits the bed. something wrong w/ ose.exe.</p><p>all i want to do is open my excel hw, but nothing.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>any ideas???</p>
